The Winnipeg Jets’ offence is sagging at the moment – which makes this a very bad time to face the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jets head to Ohio on Wednesday as surprising favourites as they carry a three-game losing streak during which they have scored four times. The Blue Jackets matched that scoring output in just 21 minutes in a 7-4 win over Buffalo last time out, and have averaged an incredible 4.2 goals over their previous nine games (6-3-0).

Winnipeg is a -141 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with a total of 5.5.

Jets vs. Blue Jackets NHL Betting Odds

The Jets come in as modest faves despite their cold stretch, and this is a difficult spot to trust them in based on recent history. Winnipeg has dropped six of its last eight games as a road favourite dating back to the end of the 2020-21 regular season, scoring fewer than three goals in half of those contests. Fortunately for Winnipeg bettors, Columbus has gone just 4-7 SU in its previous 11 outings as a home ‘dog, though the four wins have all come in the last seven.

The Sports Interaction betting contingent is firmly behind the Jets, taking them to prevail at an 78 per cent clip. And the volume of bets on the O5.5 is even higher, with 81 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors jumping on board with the Over. That fits with what we’ve seen with the Blue Jackets, who are 10-6 O/U for the season and have surpassed the total in eight of their last nine. The Jets are 7-10-1 O/U and have just one Over in their last eight outings.

Winnipeg Jets

These teams are incredibly close in offence, with Columbus having scored 55 goals and the Jets having tallied 54 times (though the Blue Jackets have played two fewer games). And the period-by-period scoring breakdown is eerily similar: The teams have scored the same number of first-period (13) and third-period goals (21), while Winnipeg has a one-goal edge in second-period scoring (19). Columbus has three OT/SO goals compared with the Jets’ one.

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets have built plenty of momentum with six wins in their previous nine games – and they’ll need to continue collecting points through the end of the work week. After hosting the Jets and Canucks, Columbus will embark on its most difficult stretch of the season, during which it will play 10 of 12 games on the road. The Blue Jackets average 3.67 goals per game on home ice, but that average drops to 3.14 away from Nationwide Arena.
