The Calgary Flames will try to keep the good times rolling and make it a great weekend. They were in Minnesota on Saturday to face the Wild and tamed the latter with a narrow 5-4 victory. The Winnipeg Jets have rested since Friday when they hosted the Utah Hockey Club and earned the spoils via a 5-2 win.

Our NHL odds put most of their faith in Winnipeg to handle its business, pegging them as -238 moneyline favourites. Calgary is +195.

Flames vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

Calgary returns to the scene of the crime from last Saturday. Most people believed the Jan. 18 contest in Manitoba would go to the Jets, but the Flames surprised everyone with a 3-1 win, courtesy of a 38-save performance by Dustin Wolf. That put an end to a two-game winning streak for the Jets over their Albertan foes, which itself flipped a three-game run for Calgary before that.

The Flames keep hanging in their in the Western Conference playoff race. Beating Winnipeg last week seems to have bolstered their confidence as they’ve rattled off two more wins since. What’s more, betters will find their 26-21-0 record against the puck line alluring. It should be noted that Connor Zary remains sidelined with a knee injury. Kevin Bahl is listed as day-to-day.

As for the Jets, it’s been a week for dealing with the Central Division. They were hammered by Utah on Tuesday and enjoyed a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. As of this writing, they sit six points clear of the Dallas Stars for the division title and are also only two points out of first overall in the league. They keep piling up the wins despite that some of their best players are nursing wounds, such as Josh Morrissey (day-to-day) and Adam Lowry (IR). Winnipeg has also been decent ATS, what with their 26-24-0 record.

Calgary Flames

Pardon the pun, but the Flames 5-4 win in Minnesota on Saturday was pretty wild. What looked to be done and dusted late in the third period proved to be anything but.

Andrei Kuzmenko tipped in a Nazem Kadri shot to open the scoring in the first period before the Wild retaliated to level the terms. Then, from the start of the second period to midway through the third, it appeared as though the visitors took complete control with tallies from Martin Pospisil, Rasmus Andersson, and Clark Bishop to lead 4-1. In fact, Kuzmenko earned his brace with barely six minutes left to make it 5-2, yet the team barely hung on, as Minnesota fought bitterly until the very end and scored twice more.

The aforementioned Wolf was between the pipes and had a rough outing, conceding four times on 25 shots. Expect Dan Vladar in net on Sunday.

Winnipeg Jets

If the Jets react on Sunday versus the Flames as they did on Friday against Utah, they stand a good chance to striking back at Calgary.

Utah was in town on Friday after grounding the Jets 5-2 earlier in the week at home. Winnipeg hadn’t been thoroughly outclassed like that much this season. A response was of the essence and respond they did. Cole Perfetti earned his first career hat trick – one goal being an empty netter. As a matter of fact, David Gustafsson also score an empty netter, but of the fortuitous variety when a puck dump had a funny bounce in Utah’s zone and caught their netminder off guard and out of position.

The goal of the evening was Nikolaj Ehlers’, who made it 4-2 in the third period when he stole the puck at the blue line, raced the other way on a breakaway and slotted the biscuit into the basket with a sly backhand.
