Calgary Flames vs. Vegas Golden Knights: NHL Odds, Prediction
The Calgary Flames can’t afford many more no-shows like Friday’s loss if they want to stay in the Western Conference playoff picture. They were roasted by the Sharks in Calgary before heading to Las Vegas, which has been a tough place to play for any team this year. However, the Golden Knights are fighting it right now. They’ve given up 12 goals in their last two games and have dropped four in a row at the T-Moblie Arena.
Flames vs Golden Knights Betting Analysis
Despite the recent slump, the Vegas Golden Knights continue to be the best puckline bet in the league, having earned more than 17 units for their betting supporters this season. Vegas averages 3.34 goals per game (second only to the Tampa Bay Lightning) and has the over hitting at a 38-31 clip. Calgary has been inconsistent for the last month, but has been an excellent road team this season at 20-10-2-4. If ever the Flames needed a big road win, it’s later this afternoon.
Calgary Flames
Although the Flames have a bunch of players who have no trouble putting the puck in the net, they can’t seem to get much going with the man advantage. Calgary has scored just one power play goal in its last nine games and that unit is clicking only 17.4 percent of the time this season. Johnny Gaudreau continues to be an offensive threat that the team can count on. He is riding a six-game points streak and has scored in each of his last three. The Flames are expected to go back to goaltender Mike Smith today. He called his last performance “terrible” after he was pulled against the Sharks.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights need a spark. Their top line isn’t the same with Reilly Smith on the sidelines with an upper-body injury. Smith had 60 points in 66 games before going down and while he’s skating again, he isn’t expected to suit up for this one. David Perron is doing what he can to make up for Smith’s absence by picking up at least a point in four consecutive contests. He’s having a career year with 16 goals, 49 assists and 65 points in 65 games.
Vegas may turn to Malcolm Subban in between the pipes today. He was activated from the injured reserve earlier this week and Marc-Andre Fleury may need a break after taking two losses in a row. Subban is 11-3-1 this year with a 2.59 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
