Canucks fans these days know better than to plan the Stanley Cup parade in November, but they are definitely planning the Calder albeit prematurely for Elias Pettersson. The Swedish rookie has eight points in his last five games and leads all NHL freshmen in scoring by a landslide.

The team will look to the rook once again in this one as they try to sweep their season series with the Bruins.

Canucks vs Bruins Betting Analysis

A Canucks win, though, will be no easy task. The Bruins have been climbing the eastern conference standings and are currently five-points out of first in the Atlantic division. They’re favoured by -240 and are also 19-7 on Thursday nights in their last 26. Whether they just like gearing up for the weekend or are big fans of NBC’s primetime lineup, the black and gold are also 5-1-0 on home ice this season.

While their record is better, the Canucks are undoubtedly playing in a weaker division, so it’s a little hard to trust the numbers in Vancouver. That and they’ll be without Brock Boeser, who is slated to miss this one with a nagging groin injury.

Vancouver Canucks

Without Boeser, the team will need others to step up in his place. Eyes will turn to Jake Virtanen on the wing who he is having a pretty solid season thus far. All things considered of course.

It seems like just yesterday that he was almost driven out of town by the angry fan base, but he has resurrected his career in a big way. He currently has seven points in 16 games and could easily build on that with more minutes tonight.

Boston Bruins

We’d be lying if we said the Bruins main scorers will be out in full force. In fact, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand have only combined for five goals in their last five games. The Bruins are actually 8-0 on the under, while the Canucks are also 4-0 with the under against the Atlantic division.

For the Bruins to win this game, they’ll need goals from unlikely sources. They’ll need to take advantage of the big three holes in the Canucks lineup (Alex Edler, Brandon Sutter, Brock Boeser). If Boston can control the possession game, they could add another win to their impressive home tally.
