Winnipeg is a heavy favourite on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals.

Blue Jackets vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

Columbus definitely will not be playing post-season hockey and traded one of its better players on Monday in Max Domi to Carolina. The Blue Jackets weren’t going to re-sign Domi when he hit free agency this summer, so it was wise to get something for him. The Jets almost surely aren’t making the playoffs, either, and traded Andrew Copp to the Rangers this week.

Friday wraps up the season series as on Nov. 24 in Columbus, the Blue Jackets won 3-0. Gregory Hoffman, Zach Werenski and Andre Peeke had the goals. Elvis Merzlikins had 36 saves for the shutout and was named the No. 1 star. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 shots in his first loss in five starts against the Blue Jackets. He’s not expected to play Friday.

The home team is 5-1 in the past six meetings. The total has gone over the past five in Winnipeg.

Columbus Blue Jackets

With No. 1 goaltender Elvis Merzlikins having been out injured, backup Joonas Korpisalo has been the primary goaltender of late for Columbus and has been very shaky. The Jets were routed 5-1 in Pittsburgh on Tuesday as Korpisalo surrendered all five goals on 37 shots to fall to 7-11-0 with a 4.15 goals-against average and .877 save per centage. However, Korpisalo has undergone season-ending surgery, and Merzlikins (22-15-2, 3.38, .903) apparently will be back Friday.

One of the team’s top defencemen, Adam Boqvist, hasn’t played since late February but has been activated from injured reserve and will go. Former Winnipeg Jet Patrik Laine leads Columbus with 25 goals and 48 points despite being limited to 45 games. The team’s fourth-leading scorer, Boone Jenner (44 points), hasn’t played since March 11 due to injury and isn’t ready yet. The Jackets are 4-1 in their past five vs. the Western Conference.

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg was upset 5-2 at home by Ottawa on Thursday to snap a two-game winning streak. It was tied 1-1 more than midway through the third when the Sens scored three times in about three game minutes. Josh Morrissey (10th of season) and Kyle Connor (second) had the Winnipeg goals. Connor Hellebuyck took the loss, but it should be Eric Comrie (7-2-1, 2.34 GAA, .920 SV) here. He hasn’t played since allowing one goal at New Jersey on March 10. The Jets have won his past four starts. Adam Lowry (17 points) is in COVID protocol and not expected to be cleared for Friday. The Jets have lost seven straight Friday games.
