A pair of former Hart Trophy winners will share the ice Tuesday in Chicago’s Patrick Kane and Edmonton’s Connor McDavid.

Blackhawks vs Oilers Betting Analysis

It’s the last meeting of the season between the teams with the Oilers looking for the three-game sweep. They haven’t swept Chicago since taking four in the 2003-04 season. Edmonton won in the Windy City on Oct. 28, 2-1 in overtime as McDavid scored just 53 seconds into overtime and Cam Talbot had a strong game. Both regulation goals were in the first period.

Just a few days later in Edmonton, the Oilers were 4-0 winners behind 40 saves from Mikko Koskinen in his first NHL shutout. Drake Caggiula had two goals. He was traded to Chicago at the end of December along with Jason Garrison for defencemen Brandon Manning and Robin Norell. In 10 games with the Hawks, Caggiula has a goal and three assists. Manning has a goal in 10 games with Edmonton.

The Hawks are 12-5 in their past 17 in Edmonton. The total has gone over in six of the past eight meetings there.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks, of course, fired mega-successful coach Joel Quenneville in early November and replaced him with AHL coach Jeremy Colliton, who is the NHL’s youngest coach at age 34. That move really didn’t change Chicago’s fortunes but perhaps things are turning around as the club is on a season-high four-game winning streak. The Blackhawks were 4-3 overtime upset winners at Minnesota on Saturday.

Erik Gustafsson’s 10th goal of the season and second of the game, coming on the power play at 1:19 of OT, won it. Kane had an assist and has at least a point in 11 straight games. He’s having another fine season, leading the team with 76 points and 31 goals. Chicago just has some questions in net with Corey Crawford dealing with another concussion. His career might be over. The Hawks are 1-6 in their past seven road games vs. a team with a losing home record.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers dropped six games in a row from Dec. 16-Dec. 31 and look to avoid matching that skid here. They dropped a fifth straight Sunday in the second of a back-to-back, 4-3 in overtime at Montreal – the past three defeats have each been by one goal. Jonathan Drouin scored the winner at 0:58 of OT. Edmonton entered the third leading 3-2 thanks to two goals from Leon Draisaitl and one from McDavid. They had a 2-on-0 breakaway early in OT but couldn’t convert.

Edmonton was 2-for-4 on the power play and killed off all five Montreal chances with the man advantage. Just have to win those types of games. Koskinen has lost his past four and allowed at least three goals in each.
