The Blackhawks are definitely a team in transition. New faces, new coach, and hopefully soon, new results. So far this season the team has just nine wins in 25 games, as they sit in second last place in the Central division and face a Jets team coming off a loss Tuesday night.

Blackhawks vs Jets Betting Analysis

This is the first of four games scheduled this season between these two Central division rivals. Last season, the Blackhawks took three of five games from the Jets, but were one for three on MTS Centre ice. Overall, the Hawks have played well in the Manitoba capital, as they are 11-4 in their last 15 games against the Jets, but the home team in this series is a perfect 4-0 in the last four games played. The Jets have played four Thursday games this season, and are 3-1.

These two teams will play each other two more times before December 14.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks were blasted 8-3 by the Golden Knights on Tuesday night. The visiting Knights peppered the Hawks net with 43 shots in the game and chased starter Corey Crawford from the net. It was the first game in the Blackhawks uniform for Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini, who were acquired over the weekend from the Arizona Coyotes for Nick Schmaltz. Strome scored a goal and added an assist playing alongside Patrick Kane and former junior team mate Alex DeBrincat. In the 2015-16 season with the Erie Otters (Ontario Hockey League), the pair combined for 212 points.

New Head Coach Jeremy Colliton’s introduction into the NHL has not been a good one. Through 10 games, he has three wins since replacing Joel Quenneville November 6.

It’ll be another homecoming for Captain Jonathan Toews and his first game in Winnipeg in over a year. Last season Toews played in only 25 games during the regular season, and missed all five games against his hometown Jets.

In the category “how does this happen?” The Blackhawks used six different goaltenders against the Jets last season (in only five games) including Scott Foster, a Chicago accountant, who was pressed into emergency duty in the third period of one game, and did not allow a goal.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets hit a bump in the road Monday night, home to the Penguins. The Jets built up three consecutive one goal leads, only to see the Penguins battle back each time and finally take their first lead in the third period in a 4-3 loss.

Mark Scheifele scored a pair of goals in loss. He now has 13 on the season, 11 of which are on home ice (tied for the league lead in home ice goals). That’s the exact opposite of Patrik Laine, who has 19 goals, 15 of which were scored on the road. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 26 shots in the loss; he is expected to make this start on Thursday night.

Of note, Brandon Tanev has three goals in his last four games, and providing the Jets with some quality minutes and much needed secondary scoring.
