Upsets wins for both the Washington Football Team and Arizona Cardinals last week means one of these clubs is starting off their season with two straight victories. Since these clubs combined for eight wins last season, it’s a pretty remarkable feat.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Cardinals enter their home opener at State Farm Stadium Sunday as -7 favourites.

It should be mentioned that Washington has won 10 of their last 12 against Arizona. The Cardinals have also taken just three of their last 16 at home, but they seem to be turning a new page under Kliff Kingsbury’s leadership.

The under has hit in five of these teams’ last seven meetings out west in Arizona, while the Cardinals are currently on a six-game under streak against the NFC East. Both teams like to run the ball and have up and coming defences, so under 47.5 could be a smart play even without the trends.

Washington Football Team

In one of the most surprising Week 1 results, the Washington Football Team stormed back down 17 to win by double digits against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles.

The story of the game came in the trenches, as the Football Team registered eight sacks on Carson Wentz. 2020 second-overall pick Chase Young shined from the get-go, picking up four tackles and 1.5 sacks last Sunday.

Dwayne Haskins Jr. didn’t need to work an air-raid offence against Philadelphia, but the key in his game was efficiency. Haskins Jr. made plays when he needed to, throwing for 178 yards and a touchdown in their season-opening win.

Ron Rivera’s team also came out of their Week 1 contest mostly healthy, so it’s all smiles for now.

Arizona Cardinals

Whether it was Murray’s 230 passing yards and 91 rushing yards or DeAndre Hopkin’s 14 grabs for 151 yards, the Cardinals proved they have an offence to reckon with.

Murray led the charge on the ground, but running backs Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds had nice afternoons too with 110 yards and two touchdowns combined. The Hopkins trade has already taken off some of the pressure of Arizona’s offensive difference-makers — this group should only go up from here on.

Arizona did a fine job holding off the defending NFC Champion 49ers’ offence too. Led by safety Budda Baker’s 15 tackles, the Cardinals’ defence came up with a huge stop in their own territory to seal the win.

If Arizona keeps this up, they’ll be legitimate NFC West contenders.
