Vikings vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 13 Odds
It’s very possible that Vikings-Seahawks is a potential NFC playoff preview. There is a scenario where both win their respective division or both are Wild-Card teams. In that latter case, it’s unlikely they would play in the post-season. If one is a division champion as the No. 3 or No. 4 seed and one a Wild-Card team, then a first-round matchup could happen. At this point, it would be an upset if both aren’t playing extra football in January.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The teams also played on Monday night late last season in Seattle with the Seahawks winning 21-7 in Week 14. Seattle led 3-0 entering the fourth quarter when both offences woke up a bit. The crucial play was a Bobby Wagner block of a Vikings field-goal attempt – that frankly should have been a penalty on Wagner – midway through the fourth quarter. Seattle scored on a 2-yard TD run not too long after that and then cinched the game with a Justin Coleman 29-yard fumble return for a score just 18 seconds later.
Minnesota got a garbage-time touchdown from Dalvin Cook with around a minute left. Neither team had more than 276 yards offence. Russell Wilson threw for only 72 yards with an interception in one of the worst games of his career. Since Wilson joined the Seahawks, they almost never lose prime-time home games.
The Vikings are 1-4 ATS in the past five meetings. The over is 5-1 in the previous six in Seattle.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings come out of their bye week having won six of their past seven but were rather fortunate to avoid a huge Week 11 home upset to a bad Denver Broncos team. Denver led 20-0 at the half and no team had lost when it led by at least 20 at halftime since Week 16 of the 2014 season.
Overall, NFL clubs had won 97 straight games when leading by at least 20 at intermission. Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins had never won a game with the Vikings when trailing in the fourth quarter. However, he had two TD passes in the quarter and threw for 319 yards and three scores overall to continue his stellar play.
The Vikings were again without top wideout Adam Thielen due to a hamstring injury, but the week off may allow him to return for this one. Minnesota is 2-10 ATS in its past 12 on Monday.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle was a slight underdog Sunday coming out of its bye week at Philadelphia but won its fourth in a row, 17-9. Second-year running back Rashaad Penny rushed for a career-high 129 yards, including a 58-yard TD in the fourth quarter for a 17-3 lead. Penny got by far his most carries of the season as he has been behind Chris Carson. However, Carson has had some fumbling problems this year and had another Sunday.
Wilson, an MVP candidate, was fairly quiet in completing 13 of 25 for 200 yards with a touchdown and interception. Despite being without Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney due to injury, the Seahawks forced five Philadelphia turnovers. Clowney might return this week from his hip issue. Seattle is 10-4-1 ATS in its past 15 on Monday.
