Vikings vs. Packers Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 2 Odds

These two division rivals were all about the defense in Week 1, and it led them both to victory. The Packers held the Chicago Bears to a single field goal and no touchdowns last week, claiming a 10-3 win over the Bears at Soldier Field.

The Vikings were also impressive defensively, and didn’t allow the Falcons any points through the first three quarters of the game before going on to win 28-12.

Last season when these two teams met in Week 2, the game was played to a 29-29 tie at Lambeau Field. In Week 12, Minnesota beat Green Bay 24-17 and limited Aaron Rodgers to 198 yards in the air.

The Packers are 0-6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games after an ATS win. The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Minnesota’s last 9 games vs. the Pack. The Vikes are 3-point underdogs in Wisconsin this weekend.

Minnesota Vikings

Kirk Cousins is coming into this game having already worked with new Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur. LaFleur wa Cousins’ quarterbacks coach for two seasons in Washington.

The Vikes looked like a team to be reckoned with in Week 1. They kept the Falcons off the board for three-quarters of the game before rolling to a comfortable victory. Where they shone was on the ground, running the ball 38 times. Dalvin Cook was the star of that game, running the ball 111 yards and earning his team two touchdowns. Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw the ball ten times, completing eight of those, and getting one touchdown.

The Minnesota defense looked very good, forcing three turnovers and giving up only 73 rushing yards.

Green Bay Packers

You could almost see the relief in Aaron Rodgers’ eyes last week, when his Green Bay Packers defence held the Chicago Bears to a field goal. “What we did on defense, I think we showed the league and folks watching that we’re not just an offensive football team anymore,” he said. “We’ve got a defense.”

Aaron Rodgers had an eight-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham in the second quarter; the only touchdown of the entire game.

The Packers’ defense has been given a complete facelift and the results look great. The team picked up a few defensive pieces in the offseason, including Adrian Amos, Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith. They were all excellent in the game against the Bears, but Mitchell Trubisky’s garbage play should also get some of the credit. There’s no way that Kirk Cousins blows it as bad as Mitch did when the Vikings come to town on Sunday.

Although the defense is much improved in Wisconsin, the offence wasn’t blowing anyone’s mind. Matt LaFleur needs a better game plan to better the meager 213 yards of offense the Packers got in Chicago.
