The 2020-21 NFL season comes to a close Sunday from Tampa, Fla., as the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet in Super Bowl 55 with the Chiefs as 3-point favourites. We previously looked at the hundreds of player props available on the NFL odds, and today it’s some team props.

Super Bowl 56 Odds

Let’s take a quick look ahead to Super Bowl 56 for a moment, which is scheduled to be played Feb. 6, 2022, at the spectacular news SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Chiefs on Sunday are trying to join a handful of clubs to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Should Kansas City win, it would be going for an unprecedented three-peat next season.

The Chiefs already are +451 favourites to win Super Bowl 56, and that number isn’t likely to change much after Sunday’s game barring Patrick Mahomes suffering a devastating injury. Kansas City is likely to be the Super Bowl favourite for the next decade or so while Mahomes is in his prime.

Tampa Bay is +900 to win next season’s Super Bowl; could Tom Brady be going for an eighth title? The Rams, who over the weekend made a huge splash by acquiring Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (won’t be official until March but it’s done), jumped to +1000 to win the next Super Bowl in their own Stadium (the Chargers also play there and are +3000).

2021 Super Bowl Team Props

On the coin-toss prop, the Chiefs will call it as the road team. Both heads and tails are -110 as well as the Chiefs and Bucs both winning it at -110. That the coin-toss winner also wins the game is also -110 for yes and no. The coin toss is an incredibly popular bet.

Tails has been the winner in six of the past seven Super Bowls. The San Francisco 49ers won it last year and deferred – of course, the Chiefs won the game. The team that won the coin toss hasn’t won the Super Bowl since Seattle over Denver in SB 48 following the 2013 season. Tails has been the winning coin toss 29 times and heads 25.

That both teams score in the first quarter Sunday is +100 with no at -140. That the Bucs score a first-quarter touchdown is -110 with no at -130. Here’s a statistic that bettors may not believe: This is of course is Brady’s 10th career Super Bowl. He has a 6-3 record despite his former New England Patriots scoring just three first-quarter points combined in those nine games.

In SB 52 vs. Philadelphia following the 2017 season, the Patriots trailed 9-3 after a quarter and would go on to lose. Zero other points in a first-quarter for the Patriots in a Brady Super Bowl. Five of Brady’s Super Bowls were scoreless after one. That Tampa Bay scores at all in the first quarter Sunday is -220 with no +155. Kansas City to score at all in the quarter is -340 with no +220.

The favourite for the first offensive play of the Super Bowl is a pass at -140 with a run +100. It has been a run in the past two Super Bowls but was a pass four in a row prior to that. Kansas City is -140 to get the initial first down of the game and Tampa Bay +100. The Chiefs did go three-and-out on their first drive in last year’s Super Bowl.

Will there be a field goal in every quarter? No is -600 and yes +350. A touchdown in every quarter is -110 with no at -130. For Kansas City to score in every quarter (regardless of how) is +120 with no at -165. Tampa Bay is -260 on no and +180 on yes. The over/under for longest touchdown of the game is 46.5 yards. It has gone under that yardage in five of the past six Super Bowls.

That there’s a defensive or special teams touchdown is +200 with no at -300. There hasn’t been one in the past three Super Bowls. How about a successful two-point conversion? No is -360 and yes +230. The last converted one was in SB 51 following the 2016 season when the Patriots converted a few in a stunning 34-28 overtime comeback win over Atlanta.

Super Bowl 55 Team Props Predictions

Tails on coin toss; under 46.5 yards for longest touchdown; yes that last team to score wins (not active as of this writing but will be; team to score last has won past seven Super Bowls); first play is a run; both teams do NOT score a first-quarter TD; no on a TD in every quarter.
