Steelers vs. Titans Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 3 Odds, Prediction
NFL fans will get their first good look at what the Pittsburgh Steelers will look like now that the team has moved on from Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown. Ben Roethlisberger sees his first action of the pre-season when his Steelers travel to Tennessee to take on Marcus Mariota and the Titans.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Tennessee took down Philadelphia in Week 1 of the pre-season, but couldn’t get by the New England Patriots last week. The Titans are 2-8 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 exhibition contests.
The Steelers are unbeaten this month (2-0 SU, 1-0-1 ATS) and 8-2 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 pre-season games.
For the first time in four years, Pittsburgh is not the consensus favourite to win the AFC North. Sports Interaction has the Cleveland Browns as the chalk team (+120 to win the division) with the Steelers close behind (+190).
Oddsmakers think even less of the Tennessee Titans’ chances this year. The club is a longshot at +650 to win the AFC South. Indianapolis, Houston, and Jacksonville all have shorter odds to win the division. The Titans went 9-7 SU and 8-8 ATS last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben Roethlisberger playing in the pre-season is a rare sight. The Steelers normally take a conservative approach when handling the health of their starting quarterback. The 37-year-old has yet to take a snap in either of Pittsburgh’s two games this month, but he’s expected to lead the Yellow and Black on the field on Sunday.
Roethlisberger completed 11 of 18 passes in Week 3 of the pre-season a year ago during a 16-6 win over these same Titans. Big Ben threw for a career best 5129 yards last season while mixing in 34 TD passes and 16 INTs.
Tennessee Titans
Things are looking as bright for the starting quarterback on the other side of the field. Marcus Mariota made headlines earlier this week when he dismissed a reporter’s question about a possible battle for QB1 in Tennessee.
The Titans signed longtime Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill to back up Mariota this season. The problem is, Mariota has only one year left on his deal, and the Titans have been non-committal about re-signing the former Heisman Trophy winner.
