Steelers vs. Ravens Point Spread: NFL Week 8 Odds, Prediction

It’s an AFC North matchup between two of the best teams in the league on Sunday, when the undefeated Steelers (6-0) head to Baltimore to face the Ravens (5-1).

The Steelers are the last unbeaten team in the NFL, but they’ll have their hands full as they are on the road against a rested Ravens team coming off their bye week.  Baltimore is favoured by 4-points, with the total opening at 47.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Baltimore got the best of the Steelers in both meetings between these teams, last season.  The Ravens came out of Week 5 with a 26-23 overtime win in Pittsburgh, before dropping the Steelers 28-10 at home in Week 17.  The under is 5-1 in the last six games between these teams.

The Steelers have gone 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall, but are just 3-7 ATS in their last nine games against Baltimore.  The under is 10-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 12 Week 8 games and 4-0-1 in their last five games a road underdog.

The Ravens have been good in divisional games, going 5-0 ATS in their last five games against the AFC North.  The under is 5-0 in Baltimore’s last five games versus the AFC and 5-0 in their last five Week 8 games.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The undefeated Steelers didn’t look invincible against the Titans last week.  After going up 24-7 at the half, Pittsburgh fell apart and was outscored 17-3 in the second half.  If not for a missed Stephen Gostkowski field goal, the Steelers would have ended up in overtime, instead of coming out with a 27-24 regulation win.

Pittsburgh’s defense has been formidable, ranking first in the NFL in yards allowed per game, giving up an average of just 286.3.  The Steelers have also been hard on opposing quarterbacks, leading the league with 26 sacks, including a team-high 5.5. sacks by T.J. Watt.  After missing most of last season, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has come up huge with 1,446 yards and 13 TDs compared to only four interceptions through six games.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens should be well rested, coming off a Week 7 bye.  Baltimore has been dominant this season, with a 34-20 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs as their only slipup.  The main area of concern for the Ravens is the passing game, which ranks 31st in the league, averaging only 177.8 yards per game.  If Baltimore wants to control the game they will need to rely on their running.  They lead the league with 164.3 rushing yards per game, but running back Mark Ingram’s status is questionable after an ankle injury in Week 6.

Newly acquired Yannick Ngakoue will debut for an already smothering Ravens defense that has racked up 13 sacks over their last two games.  The Ravens allow an average of 109 rushing yards per game, ranking 10th in the league, and are leading the NFL in points allowed per game (17.3).  Rookie linebacker Patrick McQueen seems to be getting more comfortable every game and leads the Ravens in tackles with 44.
