The Steelers have been a friend to bettors with five covers through eight games, and are sizeable favorites this week against a Colts team coming off a stunning road victory over Houston – and even that came with some bad news.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Steelers are giving up double-digit points for just the second time in 2017; things didn’t go so well the first time, as Pittsburgh eked out a three-point win over Cleveland as a 10-point fave in the season opener. But Pittsburgh has gone 5-2 ATS since – and has been a strong play away from Heinz Field, covering in eight of its previous 11 road games. But the Steelers have gone just 1-5 ATS in their last six games coming out of the bye.

Sports Interaction bettors are siding with the visitors in this one, selecting the Steelers at a 77-percent clip. They’re even more unanimous on the game total of 44.5, with 88 percent taking the over. That would require a significant shift in the Steelers’ season-long road trend; they’ve played to the under in all five games away from Pittsburgh in 2017, and have posted an amazing 21 unders in their previous 26 road games overall.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh’s defence has been as consistent as they come, which helped to mask some of the offence’s early-season struggles. The Steelers come into the week ranked second in the NFL in scoring defence (16.4 points per game allowed), third in fewest yards per opposing pass attempt (5.5) and tied for fourth in sacks (26). That has helped Pittsburgh post an impressive 9-4-1 ATS mark against AFC opponents dating back to last season.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis learned this week what many had suspected for a while: quarterback Andrew Luck won’t play this season due to a significant shoulder injury. With or without him, the Colts have had a terrible time building momentum, having gone 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight-up victory. Jacoby Brissett will try to pull off the upset behind an Indianapolis offensive line that has yielded an NFL-high 36 sacks.
