Kliff Kingsbury and his Arizona Cardinals are still in the hunt for their first win of the Kyler Murray era. Can they do it against the Seahawks, a team they haven’t beaten at home since 2012?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals

  • Seattle Seahawks -113 -5
  • Arizona Cardinals -107 +5

For most teams in the NFL, hosting a game in your home stadium gives you an advantage. The Arizona Cardinals seem to be the exception to the rule in this case. Their loss to Carolina last week brought their home record to 1-8-1 since the beginning of the 2018 season. They haven’t beaten the Seahawks at home since 2012. Seattle is 9-4-2 ATS in their past 15 road games. The Cards are +5 point underdogs in this Sunday afternoon game.

Seattle Seahawks

It wasn’t Russell Wilson‘s fault that the Seahawks lost to the Brees-less Saints at home last week. Wilson did everything he could, including throwing for 406 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions and rushing for 51 yards and two scores. He had a little help from WR Tyler Lockett who had 154 receiving yards and a TD. The final score was 33-27 for the New Orleans side.

In terms of defense, it doesn’t help the Seahawks pass rush that Jarran Reed has been suspended, however, having Ezekiel Ansah and Jadeveon Clowney should at least partially make up for that hole in the roster. The Cardinals offensive line isn’t much to write home about, so Seattle’s D should be taking this opportunity to post some much improved numbers on Sunday. The Seahawks are tied with the Steelers for 21st in the league for sacks. Not great. They weren’t able to sack Teddy Bridgewater at all last week.

Arizona Cardinals

A win against the Seattle Seahawks this weekend would give young quarterback Kyler Murray some much needed confidence. It’s tough to imagine him pulling it off, though. Last week the Cardinals were beaten pretty thoroughly at home by the Carolina Panthers, with a final score of 38-20. Murray came away from that game with just 173 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed 89 yards and was intercepted twice.

What improvements do they need to make to turn things around? Where do we start? They really need to work out some better ways to protect their young, number 1 overall draft pick QB. He was sacked eight times for a loss of 46 yards. The Arizona club is averaging 23.1 points and 328.0 total yards per game and are allowing 29.3 points and 443.3 total yards per game.

To be fair, before they were wrecked by the Panthers last week, they tied their week 1 game against the Lions and got very close to a win against the excellent Baltimore Ravens in week 2.
