A rematch of the NFC Conference Championship game is the marquee matchup for NFL Week 2 bettors. The Saints are seeking to avenge the loss to the Rams in the playoffs in a game many will remember because of an incredible missed pass interference call that cost New Orleans backers.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Saints won but failed to cover as 6.5-point home favourites against the Houston Texans on Monday night. New Orleans needed some late Drew Brees magic to escape with the outright win.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, won and covered as a 1.5-point away underdog against the Carolina Panthers last weekend. The Rams opened as field goal faves against the Saints but the spread has dropped a half point to 2.5.

The total opened at 54 and has dropped a bit to 53. Despite the downward move, this game remains the highest total on the Week 2 betting board. More than 90 percent of Sports Interaction bettors expect this game to surpass the 53-point total.

The action isn’t as one-sided on the spread. About 58 percent of bettors are backing the Saints to cover as 2.5-point road underdogs.

Dating back to last season, New Orleans is 0-6 against the spread (ATS) in its last six games. The Saints are still 20-7 ATS in their last 27 road games.

The over is 5-1 in the Rams’ last six contests at home. LA is 5-0 against the number in its last five games against NFC foes.

New Orleans Saints

Regardless of the result in Week 2, the Saints are looking good in the NFC South. They were the only team in the division to come out on the winning side in Week 1. Sports Interaction now lists the club as -250 favourites to win the division. The Falcons are next closest at +500.

Los Angeles Rams

The Rams still aren’t sure about Todd Gurley’s knee. The All-Pro running back is dealing with arthritis in his right knee. He still ran for 97 yards on 14 carries against the Panthers. Backup RB Malcolm Brown was the prime red zone threat. He picked up 53 rushing yards and two scores on 11 attempts.
