Washington vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 6 Odds
The Washington Redskins are road favourites this weekend against the Miami Dolphins despite making a head coaching switch.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Neither of these teams are going to be making a playoff charge of course Miami planned on being in this position while Washington thought it could contend in the NFC East this season.
The Redskins opened as 4.5-point road chalk at Sports Interaction’s NFL odds board. The spread dropped a point with the Phins now catching 3.5. Miami is coming off a bye week and the club is 4-0 against the spread in its previous four contests off a bye.
Washington could do with a bye week. The front office let go of head coach Jay Gruden in the early hours of Monday morning. Former Oakland Raiders and Nebraska HC Bill Callahan will serve as the interim sideline boss.
The Redskins are 0-4 against the number in their last four games and 1-4 ATS on the season. In the last two weeks, they’ve scored 10 points and allowed 57.
Washington and Miami are 30th and 32nd in the league in scoring (14.6 ppg, 6.5 ppg), and 28th and 31st in offensive yards per game. Prepare for a snoozefest, gang.
Washington Redskins
It’s no secret former head coach Jay Gruden wasn’t a fan of rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins. When the firing seemed imminent, Gruden’s inner circle leaked to the press that the coach didn’t support picking Haskins with Washington’s first round pick last spring.
Gruden is gone, but don’t expect Haskins to start under centre anytime soon. Callahan told the press that Haskins needs time to develop and that the youngster is unlikely to start this season. Bettors should expect to see either Case Keenum or Colt McCoy as the starter on Sunday.
Miami Dolphins
Craziest NFL stat after the first month of the season? That’s easy. The Dolphins are averaging fewer than seven points per game after their first four contests. That’s right less than a touchdown per game. Yuck. The Under is 3-1 in their games this season despite allowing 40.8 points per game.
Miami is still a candidate to trade away more of its first teamers. The club shipped out several above average veterans at the start of the season – including offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. The trade deadline is at the end of the month.
