Rams vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 5 Odds
It’s the fifth Thursday night game of the season this week and fourth time that two NFC teams are
featured. West Division, to be exact, as the Los Angeles Rams visit the Seattle Seahawks.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Rams-Seahawks on Thursday is one of just two Week 5 games featuring teams who made the playoffs
last year, with Colts-Chiefs on Sunday night the other. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson has been one
the winningest prime-time quarterbacks in the league since he entered in 2012. Seattle has four more
scheduled later in the year and in four consecutive games (a bye week breaks it up).
Los Angeles and Seattle figure to battle for the NFC West title all season, although certainly the Rams
are favoured to win it a third straight year. Seattle won it three of the four years before that and is the
last division team to win the Super Bowl, happening in the 2013 campaign.
The Rams swept the Seahawks last year but both easily could have gone Seattle’s way as they were
decided by a combined seven points. The one in the Pacific Northwest was 33-31. Rams coach Sean
McVay took a risk on fourth-and-1 at his own 42 with under two minutes left. Jared Goff ran a
quarterback sneak and got two yards, allowing L.A. to run out the clock. If Goff doesn’t convert, the
Seahawks already are about in field-goal range.
The underdog has covered in six of the past eight meetings. The under is 6-2 in those.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams ruined a lot of Survivor Pools on Sunday when they were upset 55-40 at home by Tampa Bay.
Those were the most points allowed in a home game in franchise history including the St. Louis days.
Goff became the 23 rd quarterback with a 500-yard passing game (517) but he also had three
interceptions and a lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. It was his second straight game
with multiple picks.
The Rams are yet to score a first-quarter touchdown this year. Todd Gurley had only
five carries. L.A. is 1-5 ATS in its past six Thursday games.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle was a 27-10 winner at Arizona on Sunday. Wilson threw for 240 yards and a touchdown and new
trade addition Jadeveon Clowney returned an interception for a touchdown. Tight end Will Dissly scored
for the third straight game, while Chris Carson had 104 yards rushing and 41 receiving. He had lost a
fumble in each of the first three games but didn’t turn it over this time.
Fellow tailback Rashaad Penny didn’t play a second game in a row due to a hamstring injury but is likely to Thursday.
Seattle is 7-0-2 ATS in its past nine Thursday games.
