Joe Burrow has been the centre of one of the quickest and most impressive franchise turnarounds in recent NFL history.  After a devastating knee injury ended his rookie year prematurely, Burrow has forced his way into the spotlight in Year 2 and led the charge for a Bengals team that hadn’t won a playoff game since 1991 and hadn’t reached a Super Bowl since 1988.  Whether it’s this season or further in the future, Burrow seems destined to eventually lead Cincinnati to their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.

Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl Odds

The Bengals are being seen less and less like an underdog, but don’t tell them that because it’s a role they clearly thrive in.  Burrow is already a star in his second season, helping Cincinnati overcome an 18-point deficit against Kansas City in the AFC title game.  That matches the biggest comeback in AFC championship history.  The LSU alum was 23-for-38 passing, finishing with 250 yards, two TDs and an interception.

Receiver Ja’Marr Chase has completed this offence.  Burrow’s former LSU teammate has made an immediate impact in his rookie season.  Chase finished fourth in the NFL with 1,455 receiving yards in the regular season and his 13 TDs was third-best.  Only thee other duos have more touchdown connections in their first season playing together.  Tom Brady-Randy Moss in 2007 (24), Randall Cunningham-Moss in 1998 (17) and Cincinnati’s opponents this week, Matthew StaffordCooper Kupp (20 and counting).

As good as Burrow and Chase have been, a lot of the Bengals’ success belongs to the defence, which has succeeded with timely plays in key moments.  Through three playoff games, Cincinnati has given up 371 total yards per game, but they’ve held opponents to just 19.7 points.  It was even Vonn Bell‘s interception in overtime against Kansas City that led to the Bengals’ game-winning drive in the AFC championship game.

2022 Super Bowl Bets: Rams vs. Bengals

Cincinnati is +155 on the moneyline, so to win $100 you would need to bet $64.52.

Point Spread:

The number has stayed fairly steady since opening at Bengals +4.  Cincinnati is a healthy 13-7 against the spread and they’re riding a seven-game cover streak.  That +4 number is valuable in the Super Bowl as Tampa Bay’s 31-9 win in Super Bowl 55 was only the second time in the last 13 years that the title game was decided by more than three points.

The Over/Under opened at 50.0 before slowly dipping to 48.5.  Cincinnati has definitely leaned towards the Under this season.  Counting playoffs, 12 of their 18 total games finished below the number, including their last four.  They’ve also finished below 48.5 points 10 times.

Joe Burrow Total Passing Yards:

The number is set at 275.5, with the Over at -135 and the Under at-105.  Even with L.A.’s strong defensive line, the Over looks good for this one.  Burrow averaged 288 passing yards per game during the regular season and threw for more than 275 yards in 11 of the 16 games he played.  He’s stayed fairly consistent in the playoffs, averaging 280 passing yards per game and you can bank on the Bengals’ Super Bowl game plan relying on Burrow to throw the ball.

Most Receiving Yards:

Chase (+285) and Tee Higgins (+500) are the second and third-favourites for most receiving yards in the game.  L.A’s Kupp is the favourite at -110.  Chase is a solid option largely because of his connection with Burrow.  He would be dangerous with any quarterback throwing the ball, but his chemistry with Burrow is unmatched.  In three seasons together, dating back to their LSU days, Burrow and Chase have connected on 206 catches for 3,801 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Chase had over 100 receiving yards five times in the regular season and in two of three playoff games.  His 266-yard performance in Week 17 against Kansas City was the highest single game total this season and should give bettors a lot of faith in the rookie.

Super Bowl LVI MVP:

At +215, Burrow only trails Matthew Stafford (+120) as the MVP favourite.  Cincinnati lives and dies by Burrow, so he’ll get every opportunity to throw the ball and build up a big stat line as long as the Bengals’ offensive line can stop Aaron Donald.  It’s also worth noting that seven of the last 10 Super Bowl MVPs have been quarterbacks.

Beyond Burrow, Chase could be a good option at +1400.  The former LSU teammates have been just as successful in Cincinnati.  Including playoffs, Burrow and Chase have connected on 14 TDs.
