SNF Packers vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction
Sunday features a primetime matchup between two strong NFC teams as Aaron Rodgers leads the Green Bay Packers into the Bayou to face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
The Packers offense has put up big numbers with 85 points through the first two weeks of the season, but the defense has struggled, allowing 55 points. With Saints star receiver Michael Thomas out of the lineup last week and likely out in Week 3, Brees will need to find a new target against a dangerous Packers team.
Sunday Night Football Point Spread & Betting Analysis
It is a relatively high total of 52.5 for this game, but historically the games between these teams are high scoring as the over is 7-1 in their last eight meetings. The Packers have won 16 of 25 lifetime meetings against the Saints, but the Saints have won four of the six games played since Sean Payton took over in 2006, including the last time these teams met, a 26-17 Saints win in October 2017.
The Saints have a strong 6-1 record against the spread (ATS) in their last seven Week 3 games, including a 4-0 record ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss. The Packers come into this game 6-1 ATS in their last seven September games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games on field turf.
Green Bay Packers
The offence has been clicking for Green Bay with the Packers coming into this game 2-0 after crushing the Lions 42-21 at home, last week. Aaron Rodgers threw for 240 yards and two TDs in the game, while Aaron Jones rushed for 168 and two TDs with 68 receiving yards. The big concern is a defence that has given up 55 points in two games. With Michael Thomas out for the Saints, this should be a great chance for the Packers defence to shut things down.
New Orleans Saints
The biggest concern for the Saints is the ankle injury Michael Thomas suffered in Week 1, which kept him out last week. While he hasn’t been officially ruled out of this game, he hasn’t practiced this week and experts believe he will be out multiple weeks. Alvin Kamara was the Saints best player in Week 2 despite a 34-24 loss to the Raiders. Kamara led the Saints in rushing and receiving yards, picking up 79 rushing yards and two TDs on 13 carries and 95 receiving yards on nine receptions. Kamara can’t do it alone so with Thomas likely out, Drew Brees needs to find a new target to hit.
