Lions vs. Browns Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 4 Odds, Prediction
With their head coach on crutches, the Detroit Lions hobble into the last game in August still searching for their first win this pre-season. Standing in the way are the suddenly-sexy Cleveland Browns. The AFC North favourites are resting all their big guns for this exhibition finale, but NFL fans might get a look at 2017 leading rusher.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
There’s not a lot of variance in point spreads and totals in Week 4 of the NFL pre-season. The last game in August is reserved for making determinations on the final 53-man roster. The Lions and Browns, like every other NFL team, will have to cut their roster down to 53 by Saturday afternoon.
Bettors should expect to see plenty of players on the field who won’t make the regular season team. Forget star players, most teams won’t even play capable backups in these games
The spread in this game opened with the Browns as 4-point home favourites and that’s about where the number rests heading into Thursday’s contest. Sports Interaction oddsmakers aren’t expecting a high-scoring affair. The Over/Under number for this game is set at 33 points.
Detroit Lions
Betting against the Lions in pre-season under head coach Matt Patricia has been a profitable play. Detroit is 1-6 straight up and against the spread in exhibition matchups since the former New England Patriots defensive coordinator took the big job in Motor City.
Patricia has ditched his scooter for crutches. The sideline boss is still recovering from offseason surgery on his Achilles. He’s coached the first three games of the pre-season from an elevated perch a little bit farther back on the sidelines.
It’s unclear at this point if that’s where he’ll set up shop in Week 1 of the regular season.
Cleveland Browns
There will be no Baker Mayfield or Odell Beckham Jr. featuring on Thursday night. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any players with star power making an appearance for the Browns.
Cleveland coach Freddie Kitchens wouldn’t comment on whether Kareem Hunt will play on Thursday. The former Kansas City Chiefs running back is suspended for the first eight regular season games this year, but he is eligible to play in the final pre-season contest.
