New York Jets
At 1-5 the Jets have had a rough season, but it may have hit rock bottom this past weekend in front of a national television audience. Quarterback Sam Darnold threw four interceptions and had a career high five turnovers in the 33-0 loss to the Patriots. Statistically, it was one of the worst passing days in Jets team history. Darnold finished the night with a 3.6 passer rating. Only J.J. Jones in 1975 quarterbacked a Jets team with a lower passer rating with a 2.7 mark. Darnold was mic’d up during the game and was quoted saying that he was “seeing ghosts” – that quote will live with him forever.
The Jets welcomed back linebacker CJ Mosley on Monday night. He missed the previous four games because of a groin injury. But his appear was cut short as he reinjured himself. His status is unknown at this time.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are coming off a win against the Bengals and now find themselves 3-4 on the season. Running back Leonard Fournette continues to have a breakout season that could be his best by season’s end. In the last four games Fournette has rushed for 536 yards on 101 carrries for an average of 25 carries for 134 per game. His season totals rank him second in the NFL in yards rushing. The Jags are a team is ranked 4th in the league in team rushing for an average of 140.1 per game.
Gardner Minshew threw for 255 yards in the win, but the team could see a familiar face back on the practice field. On Wednesday Nick Foles took to the field for the first time since leaving the team’s week one game against the Chiefs. Head Coach Doug Marrone says he’ll gradually bring back Foles, but he is not expected to start against the Jets.
Under Minshew, the Jaguars are ranked 9th in total yards with an average of 378.4 yards per game.
