Jaguars vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 11 Odds, Prediction
The Indianapolis Colts are reeling following a couple of major injuries and back-to-back losses. Jacoby Brissett’s status is still up in the air heading into a tough matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. The Jags, who are coming off a bye week, will welcome back quarterback Nick Foles into the starting lineup. He’s been out since Week 1 and we’ll see if he can spark a Jags team that’s dropped three of their last five games.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Jacksonville has dominated this AFC South showdown in recent years as they are 6-2 straight up and 7-0-1 against the spread versus Indianapolis dating back to the start of 2015. However, Jacksonville is just 2-8 straight up in its last 10 games against AFC South teams with both of those victories coming against the Colts. The Jaguars are 5-4 against the spread overall this season.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis is 4-4-1 ATS overall this season. Despite their struggles against Jacksonville, the Colts are still 6-1 straight up and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against AFC South opponents. The Colts are also 0-4 ATS in their four games against losing teams this season.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Rookie sixth-round pick Gardner Minshew II did his best to keep the Jaguars in the hunt while Foles was injured. After going 4-4 as the starter, Minshew now hands the starting role back to Foles just in time for a potential playoff run down the stretch. The good news is that the Jacksonville defense has held up for the most part this season. They’re 13th in points per game allowed. Meanwhile, running back Leonard Fournette ranks third in the NFL with an average of 125.1 scrimmage yards per game.
At the same time, it feels like the Minshew spark has faded, so that’s why the team might be switching back here. Foles has some decent weapons to work with as D.J. Chark Jr., Chris Conley and Dede Westbrook at are an OK trio. He’ll have to do what Minshew did earlier in the season, which is elevate the play of everyone around him.
Indianapolis Colts
So much of what happens in this contest will depend on whether Brissett is healthy and good enough to perform at a high level. If Brissett can go, Indianapolis has a chance. If Hoyer gets the nod, we’re not sure what we’ll get. He played well against Pittsburgh and the Colts should have won that game (missed a game-winning kick at the end). However, Hoyer melted down last week with three interceptions against the Dolphins.
The Colts are also waiting for wide receiver T.Y. Hilton to get healthy. Hilton could be back this week and that alone will help whoever is at quarterback.
The Indianapolis defense has done about as well as the team could have expected from them this season as they are 10th in yards allowed. They’ve given up an average of 18.2 points per game over their last five. They should be able to drag the Jags into low-scoring dog-fight here. Under might be the best play here – especially since we’re not sure just how healthy Brissett will be.
