Giants vs. Patriots Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 4 Odds, Prediction
New York NFL fans will be watching closely when the Giants visit the New England Patriots on Thursday night. Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones gets his first start for the G-Men before he makes way for Eli Manning in the regular season.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The defending champion New England Patriots enter Thursday’s game as short favourites. Sports Interaction opened with the Pats giving 3.5 points to the visitors. The line dipped as low as -1.5 but is moving back toward the field goal spread.
New England is 3-0 straight up and against the spread (ATS) this summer, and 6-1 (SU & ATS) in its last seven pre-season contests. The Under is a perfect 5-0 in the Pats’ last five games in August – including last week’s 10-3 snoozefest against the Carolina Panthers.
The Giants are turning heads with their performances this month. They’re a perfect 3-0 straight up and against the number, and they’re averaging 29.3 over the three-game stretch. Of course a lot of that stems from the play of the club’s first-year quarterback.
New York Giants
Jones was widely considered the biggest reach of the 2019 NFL Draft when the Giants selected him with the sixth pick of the first round. He didn’t exactly turn a lot of heads during his time at Duke – certainly not enough to generate a lot of first-round buzz.
But Jones’ play in the pre-season is making Giants general manager Dave Gettleman look like a genius. Jones has completed 25 of his 30 pass attempts for 269 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions over three pre-season games.
He could be in for another big day playing against a vanilla scheme and the Pats’ backup players.
New England Patriots
The Patriots are the defending Super Bowl champions and they’re the favourites to win SB 54. Sports Interaction lists New England at +700 to lift the Lombardi in February. The news isn’t all positive in Foxborough.
Starting centre David Andrews is dealing with blood clots in his lungs and there’s a chance he won’t feature this season. That means utility offensive lineman Ted Karras will likely start the season as New England’s No. 1 centre.
