Giants vs. Panthers Point Spread: NFL Week 5 Odds, Prediction
The Panthers went into the Week 4 bye on a high following a 31-21 victory over visiting Cincinnati, and will be fresh for this weekend’s home game against a Giants team that struggled for most of the day in a 33-18 loss to visiting New Orleans last Sunday.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
You don’t often see Carolina giving away a touchdown – that has happened just 15 other times this decade. But the Panthers have been full value from a cover standpoint, going 14-1 SU and 11-3-1 ATS in those outings while scoring 30 or more points nine times. But the Giants have been solid themselves when receiving seven or more points, having gone 7-2-1 ATS while racking up three SU victories in that span.
The total for this one sits at 44.5, and it’s notable that Carolina has cashed the Over in four consecutive games following its regular-season bye. They’ve averaged better than 26 points in those contests while going 3-1 SU and 3-1 ATS over that stretch. The Giants have gone under in four of their previous five road games and were held below 18 points in all four of those under conversions.
New York Giants
For a team that added a dynamic offensive talent in Saquon Barkley with the second pick in this year’s draft, the Giants still possess one of the most underwhelming offences in the league. New York has surpassed the 20-point mark just once this season and rank tied for 23rd in passing touchdowns (four), 24th in first downs (75) and 28th in sacks allowed (15). They’ve also lost seven of their last 10 against NFC South opponents.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers might finally have some good news on the injury front, as wide receiver Curtis Samuel appears ready to return after missing three games with a medical issue. Samuel’s presence should invigorate a Carolina passing game that ranks 25th in the league in yards at just over 203 per game while producing just five touchdowns through the air. The Giants have allowed the 10th-fewest yards through the air while limiting QBs to four passing scores.
