We are at the point of the season where NBC can flex games into its Sunday night prime-time spot if it so desires. No chance the network was going to do that in Week 11 as this will undoubtedly be one of the most watched and anticipated games of the week.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This likely will draw the highest TV ratings of any NFL game thus far in 2017 as well as the biggest betting handle of any game at Sports Interaction. Why? The Eagles are the league’s best team at 8-1, while the Cowboys are simply the most popular NFL team in the world. The game also features a burgeoning individual rivalry between second-year quarterbacks Carson Wentz of the Eagles and Dak Prescott of the Cowboys. They are two of the rising superstars in the game.

Last year, these teams split but that’s a bit misleading. In Week 8 in Dallas, the Cowboys won 29-23 in overtime on a Prescott-to-Jason Witten 5-yard TD pass. The Eagles, who never got the ball in OT, blew a 23-13 fourth-quarter lead. In Week 17 in Philly, the Cowboys lost 27-13, but they had wrapped up the top seed in the NFC and rested several starters. It was also the final game in the Cowboys career of Tony Romo, at least in terms of seeing the field, and he had a touchdown pass in mop-up work.

Philadelphia is 6-4 SU and ATS in its past 10 trips to Dallas.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles (8-1 SU, 7-2 ATS) couldn’t ask to be in a better spot coming out of their bye week as they control their destiny to be the NFC’s top seed. Philadelphia is now the Super Bowl betting favourite, and Wentz is the leader for NFL MVP. His 23 touchdown passes are the most ever by an Eagles quarterback through his team’s first nine games. Wentz, just 24, is also the first QB in league history with at least 20 touchdown passes and five or fewer interceptions (five) in his team’s first nine games.

As good as Wentz has been, the Eagles also are among the NFL rushing leaders and recently acquired 2016 Pro Bowl running back Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins. In his Philly debut in a Week 9 rout of Denver, Ajayi rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. This team doesn’t appear to have any holes right now.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys (5-4 SU, 5-4 ATS) began life without superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott on Sunday – his six-game suspension is back on after a U.S. court ruling went against Elliott and the NFLPA last week. And did Dallas ever miss him as it managed just seven points and 233 yards in a 20-point defeat in Atlanta. The Cowboys also were without left tackle Tyron Smith due to injury, and Dak Prescott was sacked eight times. In addition, top linebacker Sean Lee left early with a hamstring injury. Pretty much a lousy day all around.
