Dolphins vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 4 Odds, Prediction
The New Orleans Saints will enter the 2019 season as major players in the Super Bowl picture.
First, they need to get past one final preseason dress rehearsal.
This game means very little to the Saints but the Miami Dolphins could still be sorting out their
starting quarterback situation. That adds a little intrigue to this Week 4 showdown where the
Saints are small favorites.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Miami has bookended a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a pair of wins over the Atlanta
Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars. Head Coach Brian Flores has done his best to maximize the talent at his disposal.
It will be interesting to see how many snaps Flores gives to key players in their preseason finale.
Meanwhile, New Orleans is coming off back-to-back wins to improve to 2-1 this preseason. The
Saints haven’t finished with a winning record in the preseason since 2014 when they went 4-0.
Sean Payton’s group is 7-11 in exhibition contests since 2015. The Saints are also just 2-11 in
Game four of the preseason under Payton.
Miami Dolphins
A 99-yard touchdown drive by Josh Rosen was a pleasant sight for Dolphins fans that are hoping
the second-year quarterback can become a franchise star. Rosen went 5-of-7 for 59 yards in last
week’s 22-7 win over the Jaguars. Meanwhile, Ryan Fitzpatrick was solid as well, going 12-of-18
for 126 yards and a score. The battle between the two could continue into this game.
The Dolphins also have an open competition at running back where Kalen Ballage, Mark Walton
and Chandler Cox continue to fight for a role behind Kenyan Drake. Miami’s offense has put
together some impressive performances this preseason. They will need another one to keep up
with a high-scoring Saints offense that should put up some impressive totals – even with Brees
watching from the sideline.
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans has arguably the most talented stable of quarterbacks in the NFL. Even with Brees
watching from the sideline, the Saints will still be able to send out Teddy Bridgewater and
Taysom Hill against the Dolphins this week. That’s really why they’re favored in this spot.
Bridgewater went 15-of-26 for 143 yards in last week’s 28-13 win over the New York Jets.
Meanwhile, Hill went 8-of-13 for 127 yards in the victory. Look for that tandem to carve up the
backups on the Miami defense.
The New Orleans defense has held its last two opponents to an average of 15.0 points in
consecutive wins. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Saints managed to do the same thing in a
blowout win over the Dolphins in their final preseason contest.
