Cowboys vs. Rams Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Odds, Prediction

The Dallas Cowboys have a fantastic shot at winning the NFC East in 2019, but there are plenty of distractions off the football field in Big D. The ‘Boys try to put that noise out of their minds as they travel to Hawaii to take on the defending NFC champions.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Rams are coming off a snoozefest last week. L.A. lost 14-3 (outright and against the spread) to the Oakland Raiders in Week 1 of the pre-season.

Rams head coach Sean McVay is considered an offensive guru in the league, but he doesn’t go out of his way to justify that reputation in August. L.A. is averaging just 10 points per game in pre-season contests since McVay took the big job. The Rams are 2-3 SU and ATS over that same stretch.

The Cowboys are also coming off a setback in Week 1. They lost 17-9 at San Francisco last week as 4-point road underdogs. Dating back to 2018, Dallas is 0-5 (SU & ATS) in its last five pre-season games.

Longtime Dallas head coach Jason Garrett has earned a reputation with bettors as solid fade material. The Cowboys are 11-23-1 against the number in exhibition matchups since Garrett became the head coach.

Plenty of line movement in this game. Sports Interaction opened with the Rams as 3.5-point faves, but the spread flipped in favour of Dallas. The Cowboys are currently a 2-point chalk for Saturday’s game.

Dallas Cowboys

Star running back Ezekiel Elliott continues to hold out from Cowboys training camp. The former Ohio State standout is looking for a significant pay raise from his rookie deal and Dallas owner Jerry Jones has refused to yield.

Elliott isn’t the only Cowboy making headlines. Starting quarterback Dak Prescott is at camp while his agent tries to negotiate a new deal for him. There were rumours of Prescott seeking as much as $40 million per season.

Los Angeles Rams

Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley will not be making the trip to Hawaii for this weekend’s game against Dallas. The Rams aren’t explaining why but it seems obvious they’re concerned about the health of their star player. Gurley wore down significantly in the second half of last season because of pain in his left knee.

Gurley isn’t the only key Ram player expected to sit out on Saturday. Starting QB Jared Goff and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald are both expected to rest on Saturday.

That means there’ll be a lot of Blake Bortles under centre for the Rams on Saturday.
