A Week 10 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys is a must-win situation for the Falcons, who started this season strong but now seem to be experiencing their Super Bowl hangover.

Some may find it hard to believe but, Dak Prescott has thrown more touchdowns and fewer interceptions than last year’s league MVP Matt Ryan. The two will go head to head this Sunday afternoon in Dallas, both looking to improve their standings in the NFC conference.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two franchises have met 26 times since 1966, with the Cowboys holding a 16-10 record head to head. The last time they met was on September 27, 2015, when the Falcons beat the Cowboys 39-28 in Dallas. The Cowboys are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in November. While the Falcons are 0-4 ATS in their last four games after a straight up loss, and are 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall.

Dallas Cowboys

The big question this week, as it has been for the entire season, is if the week Pro Bowl running back Ekekiel Elliott starts his six game suspension? The latest news we know is, he has another court hearing scheduled for Thursday but is expected to play against the Falcons. On the field the Cowboys are coming off an impressive 28-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs to improve their record to 5-3 (5-3 ATS) on the season. Still the team finds itself 2.5 games back of the Philadelphia Eagles for top spot in the AFC East. The offence has been clicking this year, ranked 8th in total yards (370.5), 4th in points scored (28.3), and 2nd in rushing (148.3). They face a Falcons defence ranked 12th in total yards allowed (321.8).

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons seem to still be in Super Bowl hangover mode, and better snap out of it fast. Coming off a difficult 20-17 setback to the Carolina Panthers, the Falcons are now 4-4 (2-6 ATS) and a dismal 1-4 in their last five games. Last year’s MVP Matt Ryan is not playing up to those standards this season. With just 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, the Falcons offence is ranked sixth, which isn’t bad, but a far cry from the number one position it held most of last year. He also has committed eight turnovers through eight games, compared to last season where he committed just ten. After this game with the Cowboys, the Falcons have seven games remaining on the schedule, with five of those games to be played within the division.
