Colts vs. Steelers Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction
The Colts have seized control of the AFC South on the strength of a three-game winning streak, while the Steelers have won consecutive games for the first time all season to keep pace with Baltimore in the AFC North.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Steelers find themselves as narrow favourites after looking sluggish in the opening half of their Monday Night Football victory over the winless Miami Dolphins. Pittsburgh narrowly missed the cover but has been a sensational ATS play regardless, having covered its previous four games while going 5-2 ATS in its last seven vs. teams above .500. The Colts have a red-hot cover trend going themselves, having gone 5-1-1 ATS in their past seven road games.
With Indy and Pittsburgh ranked 16th and 19th, respectively, in points per game, it’s no surprise that the total for this one is skewing on the low side. The Steelers are riding conflicting totals trends into Sunday, having gone 4-1 to the Under in their last five games overall but 13-6 O/U in their past 19 at Heinz Field. The Under is 9-4 in the Colts’ previous 13 games vs. AFC foes, and they’ve finished below the total in four of their last five away from Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have surprised just about everyone by taking over top spot in the division – and they’ve done it with defence, having held Kansas City, Houston and Denver to a combined 49 points during their three-game winning streak. But not all is well on the defensive side of the football; Indianapolis is allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete 68.5 percent of their pass attempts while producing just seven turnovers through their first seven games.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The telenovela that is the Steelers’ season could be in for another chapter in Week 9, with star running back James Conner hampered by a shoulder injury suffered late in the victory over the Dolphins. Benny Snell was also injured in that game, which could mean plenty of work for Jaylen Samuels, who just returned from injury himself. The Colts rank 20th in the NFL in average rush yards allowed per game (111.3), but are 26th in yards per carry against (4.8).
