It will be a tale of two different pre-season approaches when the Cardinals and Cowboys meet in Dallas Sunday night. The Cardinals will play a dress rehearsal type game, where the Cowboys will be missing some key veterans in this on. Oddsmakers had this game as a pick ’em on the NFL odds board, but Dallas is currently a 1-point underdog.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two teams met last season in Arizona, with the Cowboys scoring a 28-17 win. Previous to that the Cardinals have won the last four games dating back to the 2008 season. The Cardinals are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last five meetings against the Cowboys, but 1-4 ATS in their last five games on turf. The Cowboys are 0-2 this pre-season and have played to the under in five out of their last six games overall.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals enter this game a perfect 2-0 (2-0 ATS) this pre-season, with wins against the Chargers and Saints. The depth chart for this game is littered with starters on both sides of the ball. On offence, Sam Bradford, Larry Fitzgerald, and David Johnson will all start and will likely play at least a quarter of this game. After that, expect rookie Josh Rosen to get another look. He’s had a good camp so far and has played in both games for the Cards throwing for a combined 16 of 29 for 148 yards and a touchdown.

The team will also use rookie receiver Christian Kirk and second year receiver Chad Williams for a good portion of the game. The Cardinals will lean on players who one day will be replacements for the legendary Larry Fitzgerald throughout this season. Of note, the defence has been solid all pre-season causing four forced fumbles in both exhibition games.

Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys Owner/General Manager Jerry Jones made his first appearance on his weekly radio segment in the Dallas area and spilled the beans on a lot of the happenings at Cowboys camp. First and foremost, Jones said because of injury risk, star quarterback Dak Prescott and star running back Ezekiel Elliott will not dress in the final two pre-season games and it makes a lot of sense. Both are key factors in the Cowboys’ offence, and if either player goes down with an injury, it could be catastrophic to their season. Jones also mentioned the offensive line has taken a beating this pre-season. Both center Travis Frederick (neck) and guard Zack Martin (knee) will miss this game, but hope to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season at Carolina against the Panthers.
