A matchup between two teams wondering where their seasons could have gone if not for injuries to star offensive players takes place on Sunday afternoon when the Cardinals crash land in Houston for a tilt with the Texans.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Arizona Cardinals opened as narrow 1-point favourites on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board.

Arizona started the year off 0-5 against the number but has rebounded to go 2-1-1 ATS in its last four games. The Cardinals built a reputation for flinging the ball around and putting up big numbers on the scoreboard in Bruce Arians’ first few years as head coach, but that hasn’t been the case this season. The under is 6-1 in the squad’s last seven games and 7-2 on the season.

The Rams handed the Texans their third straight loss bringing the former AFC South champs down to 3-6 SU and 5-4 ATS on the campaign.

Arizona Cardinals

It could be Drew Stanton or it could be Blaine Gabbert under center for the Cardinals on Sunday against the Texans. Stanton, who started the last two games at quarterback after Carson Palmer went down to a long-term injury, sprained his knee last Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks and might not be able to play this weekend.

Teams are 9-31 SU in games started by Gabbert since he entered the league in 2011. The former first round pick started five games for the 49ers last season and the Niners went 1-4 SU and ATS in those games.

Houston Texans

Houston’s season should be separated into two periods: with Deshaun Watson and without him. After rocketing up to the top scoring offense in the league thanks to the unprecedented play from the rookie quarterback, the Texans dropped back into their offensive funk with Tom Savage handling the snaps.

Houston was held to seven points against the Rams in large part because of the four Tom Savage turnovers.
