Buccaneers vs. Titans Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 8 Odds
The Titans are now 3-4 coming into Week 8, and they’ll play host to the 2-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second of four home games in a five game stretch. The Bucs haven’t played since Week 6, when they flew to London to get beaten by the Carolina Panthers in a game that would see Jameis Winston throw six interceptions.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Oddsmakers like the Titans for this one, and it’s pretty clear why. Not only are are the Titans coming off a big win against the Chargers, they’re also ready to take on just about anyone with one of the league’s best defenses.
Tennessee is fourth in scoring offense, allowing only 16 points per game. The Titans pass defense is top ten as well, with that line giving up just 232.9 yards on average, and their offense has been scoring well. That’s why they’ve been priced as -2.5 point favorites with an over/under of 46.5. The Bucs have not been playing well at all, and are coming off of a bye week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is the first season that Bruce Arians has been head coach of the Buccaneers, and he’s been dealt one of the toughest hands you can get in the NFL: a struggling quarterback. Against Carolina the week before last, Jameis Winston and the Bucs had a total of seven turnovers, with the final score in London being 37-26 for the Panthers. It was arguably the worst game of Winston’s relatively short career, but it’s just the latest in a series of disappointments surrounding the 2015 Draft’s first-overall pick.
In five NFL seasons, Winston has just 100 touchdowns, with 68 interceptions with an 87.5 passer rating.
That overseas loss has put the Bucs into third place in the NFC South, and has almost guaranteed that the Tampa Bay organization is starting to make plans to replace their beleaguered quarterback.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans handed Phillip Rivers and his L.A. Chargers yet another heartbreaking loss last week with a thrilling 23-20 win in Nashville. Ryan Tannehill had his first start of the season, replacing Marcus Mariota and earning a dramatic 23-20 win.
Marcus Mariota has been benched, so Titans fans held their breath when backup Ryan Tannehill made his first start of the season in Week 7. A giant exhalation of relief was to be had, as Tannehill held his own against River and the Chargers and came away with a 70 completion percentage, getting touchdown passes to Corey Davis and Tajae Sharpe. Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed for 90 yards with one touchdown an 11-yard run.
