The Lions finally put together a complete game for the first time since the second week of the NFL season - and the time is right for momentum building as they host the winless Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Detroit is coming off a 30-17 victory over Green Bay, its first cover since Week 4 and a much-needed win for the purposes of remaining in the playoff picture. The Browns have no such concerns – they’re still terrible.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday marks the first time the Lions have given away double-digit points since Week 16 of the 2014 season, when they upended the Chicago Bears 20-14 as a 10-point favourite. It might be hard to trust Detroit at such an inflated number, even with the Browns in town; the Lions have covered just once in their previous five games following a straight-up victory, are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and have covered in only four of their previous 13 games overall.

That all said, Cleveland has a way of halting any number of covers slumps; the Browns are just 2-6 ATS on the season, and are an absurd 6-25 ATS following a straight-up loss – and there have been plenty of those in recent years. To no one’s surprise, 83 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are siding with the Lions, while 67 percent believe the game will exceed the 44-point total. Cleveland has three overs in eight games; Detroit is 5-3 O/U for the season.

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland has seen plenty of double-digit spreads over the years, and hasn’t been able to take advantage of the generous helping of points. The Browns are just 3-7 ATS over the past two-and-a-half seasons when facing a spread of 10 or more points; they also lost all 10 of those games straight up. Bye weeks haven’t helped, either; they’re 0-3-1 ATS in their previous four games coming out of the break.

Detroit Lions

Making good on a spread this big will require a terrific game out of QB Matthew Stafford, who started the season rather quietly but has racked up the miles over his previous three games, throwing for nearly 1,100 yards and five touchdowns over that stretch. Half of his 14 TD passes have come in just two games, but he’s in position to pad that season total against a Browns defense that has surrendered 16 passing TDs against just five interceptions.
