Broncos vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Preseason Week 2 Odds, Prediction

Denver head coach Vic Fangio said earlier this week that “it’s possible” he’ll lock in his Week 1 starter following this week’s showdown in Seattle, with either Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater expected to get the call for the season opener.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Most preseason games feature the home team as the favourite – but that isn’t the case here. In fact, Denver is a hefty road fave in a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII. The lack of certainty surrounding the Seattle lineup for this game, combined with what is expected to be dueling “A” games from Lock and Bridgewater have no doubt played a role in the setting of this line. That said, Denver is just 3-8-1 ATS in its previous 12 visits to Seattle overall.

Points might be at a premium in this one, with oddsmakers setting the line at 37.5. The Broncos have gone 4-1 to the Over in their previous five games, and if their quarterback competition goes as well as they hope, they’re a good bet to extend that streak. The Seahawks have converted the Under in eight of their previous 10 games dating back to the middle of last season, but are 8-4 O/U in their last 12 meetings with the Broncos.

Denver Broncos

Good luck deciding between either Lock or Bridgewater based on last week’s results in a 33-6 drubbing of the Minnesota Vikings. Lock finished 5-of-7 for 151 yards with two touchdowns and a 153.3 passer rating, while Bridgewater went 7-of-8 for 74 yards with a TD and a 144.8 rating. Fangio said afterward that there is no separation between the players. Bridgewater will be on the field first Saturday night against the Seahawks, while Lock will relieve him.

Seattle Seahawks

While it’s customary for NFL teams to lean on their starters in their second-last game of the preseason, it still isn’t clear how many of Seattle’s key players will see the field – or for how long. That includes quarterback Russell Wilson, who told reporters he hopes to see action after sitting out the preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders. One player almost certain to not see the field: wide receiver Tyler Lockett, who’s nursing a groin injury.
