Bills vs. Jaguars Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction
It’s then no surprise the Bills are coming off a double-digit victory in Week 8 and Jacksonville’s coming back home after a 24-point loss at Seattle.
Two of the league’s brightest quarterbacks will face off here as Josh Allen and his 17:3 touchdown to interception ratio has him near superstar status and then on the other side it’s 2021 first-overall pick Trevor Lawrence under centre for Jacksonville.
The road Bills are 14.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, while the total’s set at 48.5. Kickoff at TIAA Bank Field goes at 1 p.m. EST.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The numbers back up the Bills’ elite status (as if winning at Kansas City on Sunday Night Football wasn’t enough). They lead the NFL in points per game with 32.7 and are also the league’s best defence when it comes to scoring with 15.6 points against per outing. The Jags are 27th in scoring and 28th in points allowed, so it’s easy to see why such a massive spread.
Buffalo’s covered in 13 of their last 18 games dating back to last season and are 4-2-1 against the spread in 2021. Jacksonville’s only 2-5 ATS in 2021 and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall. Six of the last seven Buffalo–Jacksonville meetings have gone over the total.
Buffalo Bills
It wasn’t the prettiest of wins but Buffalo got a divisional win and season sweep over Miami last Sunday. The 26-11 victory saw the Bills hold Miami to 262 yards of offence and a one for three conversion rate on Dolphins’ red zone trips. Cole Beasley had a game-high 10 grabs for 110 yards.
Allen’s offence has got it done via receiver by committee in 2021 as four Bills have over 20 catches and 250 receiving yards this season. Stefon Diggs is the leader with 503 receiving yards but then Beasley leads the team in catches with 43 and tight end Dawson Knox has a team-high five touchdown catches.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville’s 31-7 loss in Week 8 was one of their low points on what’s been a tough season. The Jaguars had 309 yards to Seattle’s 229 but were still blown out. Lawrence threw the ball 54 times and passed for just 238 yards and a touchdown. Leading rusher James Robinson went down in the loss with a heel injury and he missed practice Wednesday.
One positive for Jacksonville this season has been edge Josh Allen. The 2019 first-round pick has 31 tackles in 2021 and his 4.5 sacks and six tackles for loss both lead the team.
