The Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders roll into Jolly Old England for a Week 5 neutral-site matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Both teams will be missing some key players when the game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

NFL in London Point Spread and Betting Odds

Oddsmakers opened with the Bears set as 5-point favourites with the over/under at 41.5, but the spread has moved to Chicago -4.5, while the total has dipped to 40.5. Chicago has reeled off three straight wins after dropping its opener and has played under the total in eight of its last nine games overall. The Raiders moved to 2-2 outright last week by winning 31-24 as 5.5-point underdogs.

About 75 percent of early bettors like the Bears to cover the spread, while nearly 90 percent of the action on the total is on the under.

Chicago Bears

Chicago downed Minnesota 16-6 at home, but in the process, lost starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a shoulder injury. Chase Daniel stepped in and was very efficient in completing 22 of his 33 passes with a touchdown and no interceptions. Trubisky reportedly won’t need surgery, but is unlikely to suit up for at least a couple of weeks. That means it’s Daniels’ show for now. If he can continue to take care of the ball and extend drives, the Bears are going to be content.

Chicago’s defence absolutely smothered the Vikings last week and is making its case to be the best unit in the league. The Bears have 17 quarterback sacks (second overall) through four weeks, eight turnovers (third) and give up just 11.3 points per game (second). So far at least, this team seems like it will be OK without linebacker Roquan Smith, who is out indefinitely with a personal issue.

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders snapped a two-game slide by leaning on the running game in Indianapolis. Oakland ran the ball 32 times for 188 yards, while quarterback David Carr went 21-of-31 for 189 yards and two passing touchdowns. Erik Harris put Indy’s late comeback attempt to bed with a pick-six in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders won’t have Vontaze Burfict for the rest of the season after he was ejected for yet another egregious unnecessary roughness penalty and this is a team that needs all the help it can get. Oakland ranks 25th overall in total defence and will have to hit a number of big plays in an attempt to keep Chicago’s defence out of the backfield. That doesn’t seem overly likely.
