The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to become a modern day dynasty by becoming the first back-to-back Super Bowl winners since the New England Patriots won titles in 2004 and 2005.  Patrick Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a 26-6 regular season record over the past two seasons and this team only continues to look stronger.  Sunday is a chance for Mahomes and company to firmly establish themselves as a modern day dynasty.

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Odds

This game could be a passing of the torch. Mahomes is the future of the NFL, while Tom Brady is the face of it. One year removed from his MVP season, Mahomes continued to build on is resume by passing for 4,740 yards and 38 TDs in the regular season. Even with Brady putting up some of the biggest numbers of his career, Mahomes still threw for more yards, had a better completion percentage, threw half as many interceptions and had a better passer rating.

The Bucs defence had no answer for Mahomes in Week 12, as he threw for three TDs and a season-high 462 yards in a 27-24 win in Tampa Bay. Mahomes had TD passes of 72, 44 and 22 yards to Tyreek Hill, who made 13 catches for 269 yards. Hill picked up two TDs on seven catches for 203 yards in the first quarter alone, making him just the third NFL receiver to have at least 200 yards in a single quarter. The game wasn’t as close as the score indicates. The Chiefs were ahead 27-10 heading into the fourth quarter and largely eased off the gas when the game was already put away.

Continuing his offensive output in the playoffs, Mahomes threw for a combined 525 yards and four TDs with no interceptions against the Browns and Bills, heading into Sunday.

2021 Super Bowl Bets: Chiefs vs. Buccaneers

Moneyline: Kansas City comes in at -168 on the moneyline, so you would have to bet $168 to win $100. This is a straight win or loss scenario. The Chiefs have already won once in Tampa Bay this year, so pick them on the moneyline if you think they can do it again.

Point Spread: As 3-point favourites, betting the spread for the Chiefs means Kansas City will need to win by 4 points or more, while a 3-point Chiefs win results in a push and anything else would be a loss. The Chiefs have only covered the spread in two of their last 10 games overall, but they did manage to cover in the AFC Championship. Also keep in mind that there has only been one Super Bowl in the last 12 years that has been decided by three or less points (Super Bowl 47 Ravens over 49ers 34-31).

Over/Under: The total for this game is 56.0 points. Kansas City split the Over/Under equally in the regular season and the playoffs. The combined average score for the Chiefs and Bucs this year was 60.35 points.

Patrick Mahomes Total Passing Yards: The number is set at 329.5. Mahomes averaged 316.0 passing yards per game in the regular season, but he could be primed to hit the Over for the Super Bowl. He had a season-high 462 passing yards in Week 12 against Tampa Bay and with their strong run defence, Mahomes will likely focus on throwing the ball again.

Most Receiving Yards: Kelce (+175) and Hill (+200) are the front runners for most receiving yards in the game.  Kelce led the Chiefs with 1,416 receiving yards in the season, while Hill led the team with 15 receiving TDs, both higher numbers than anyone on the Bucs.

Super Bowl LV – MVP: Mahomes is -110 to win the MVP. He won it last year and if the Chiefs win he will likely be the MVP again, as the game plan for Kansas City will be to throw the ball. This game plan could also give Kelce (+800) and Hill (+1,000) good value too.
