As of Saturday afternoon the Chiefs still sit as 3-point favourites at Sports Interaction. Here are some news and notes around Super Bowl 55.
Did you know?
Tom Brady has thrown for 18 career touchdowns in Super Bowls, the most in NFL history. The only other signal-caller with double-digit touchdown passes is Joe Montana (11). Brady also set the Super Bowl record for the most passing yards in a single game with 505 in Super Bowl LII. That broke the record of 466 yards he set the previous season in Super Bowl LI.

An interesting stat popped up on social media regarding the Chiefs and Bucs the other day. You may remember that these two teams played back in week 12 with Kansas City hanging on for a 27-24 win. Now, in the previous thirteen Super Bowls that were regular season rematches, the point-spread has not been a factor. Actually, it has been pretty convincing with a 12-0-1 record against the spread for the eventual winner.
Although the Chiefs had the number one offence this season (425.3 total yard average) and averaged 29.6 points per game, it wasn’t as high as the Buccaneers in scoring this season. Tampa Bay averaged 30.8 points per game and continued to maintain that average in the post season scoring 30 points against Washington and 31 against both the Saints and Packers.
One prop that is gaining popular is Patrick Mahomes passing attempts currently marked at 41.5. Mahomes finished second to Deshaun Watson in yardage this season with 4730, and that number includes sitting out a week 16 play against the Chargers. In 15 games this season Mahomes attempted 588 passes for an average 39.2 per game. Back in week 12 (against the Buccaneers) he attempted a season-high 49 passes.

As we inch closer to the weekend the Chiefs are holding steady as 3-point favourites against the Buccaneers. Money to continues to come in on Kansas City on the point spread while Tampa is taking significant moneyline bets (+139).
Covid-19:
Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson and C Daniel Kilgore have tested negative for COVID-19 every day since their haircuts last weekend with a barber who tested positive, per sources. As long as that continues, Robinson can rejoin the team Friday and Kilgore on Saturday. As of now, no players are on the Covid-19 list.
Pinata Pick:
Sports Interaction is offering a handful of interesting Pinata picks to choose from including Super Bowl winning margin and Tyreek Hill receiving yards. For the Hill pinata, you get a random yards total and win at +8000 if that’s how many receiving yards the Chiefs wide receiver finishes with on Sunday!

Good morning Super Bowl fans. As we inch closer to the big game, movement on the Chiefs -3 number is at a stand still, money continues to be split between the two teams. We can report that yesterday’s game total of 56.5 has dropped to an even 56 points. That number originally opened at 57.5.
Social media reports within the last 16 hours say The Weeknd’s halftime playlist has been leaked. The unverified report says the popular pop singer will start his show with “Save Your Tears”. That prop has been taken down on most North American books including Sports Interaction.
One prop that is continuing to gain popularity is the Chiefs opening touchdown scorer. Currently, the public is favouring Patrick Mahomes to score the team’s first touchdown. It is paying +1000 at SIA. Tight End Travis Kelce, who scored 11 touchdowns during the regular season is the favourite at Sports Interaction paying +300.
Not a major surprise, Mahomes is also a favourite to win the MVP award. He is currently paying -110. A surprising candidate to win the award is Buccaneers Linebackers Devin White. White checks in at +3100.

It’s day two of Super Bowl week and that Chiefs -3 (-120) number remains the same at Sports Interaction.
Something to consider when looking at the game number at Sports Interaction is that there is already a large futures liability on the Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl.
When Tom Brady signed his two-year contract in Tampa, the public flooded the market with plenty of futures money on the future Hall of Famer to win the Super Bowl with his new team. Now, take that into consideration and add that the defending champions are usually a solid bet on the futures board as well. In this case you have the defending champions (Kansas City) back in the big game against one of the top futures selections back in the off-season. It’s an interesting scenario.
On the prop scene, the very popular coin toss tops the list early in the week. Both heads and tails paying -110 for a win. Also, color of Gatorade that is poured on the winning coach is gaining traction. Orange tops the list paying +145 followed by yellow/green/lime at +305.
Monday, Feb. 1. The biggest story of the early week was the game total. “The public is predicting a high scoring game, it will be interesting to see where this number will plateau, and when it does, will their be on some buy back,” said a lines manager at Sports Interaction. That buy back happened late last week, and it know sits at 56.5 entering the new week.
The Chiefs (1st – 425.3) and Buccaneers (11th – 393.4) are both known for their great offences this season and top six in points scored throughout the regular season.
One of the interesting numbers we will monitor this week is the halftime line of Chiefs -2.5 (-110). Some think there could be some interested in the Buccaneers (+2.5 -110) on this number. The Bucs have led or been tied at the half in each of their last five games.
