Now that the Super Bowl matchup has been set, it’s time to dig into the odds. The New England Patriots opened as favourites, but the Philadelphia Eagles are embracing their role as underdogs. So far in the 2018 NFL playoffs, underdogs are 8-1-1 against the spread. We’ll have daily Super Bowl odds updates and the action we’re seeing.
Super Bowl LII Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles have been very good to their betting supporters this season. Through 18 combined regular season and playoff games, each squad is 12-6 against the spread. The Pats couldn’t cover the number in the AFC Championship, but have recorded ATS wins in 10 of their last 12 games overall. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has covered in two straight after dropping four of five against the number.

Patriots vs. Odds and Betting Action Updates
Sunday, Jan. 21 – The New England Patriots opened as 6.5-point favourites on Sunday, hours after they punched their Super Bowl ticket. The opening total was set at 48.5.
Monday, Jan. 22 – Early action on the underdog Philadelphia Eagles dropped the point spread from Pats -6.5 to -5.5. About 64 percent of total betting action is backing the Eagles while 55 percent of bets are on over 48.5.
Tuesday, Jan. 23 – We’re still seeing strong support for the Eagles on the point spread – enough to drop the Pats to -5 – while the total has dipped to 48 points. The early rush is probably getting close to its end, so don’t expect major changes unless more news comes out on Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski’s concussion. Eagles support is now up to 68 percent on the spread, while it’s basically a split between over and under bets.
Wednesday, Jan. 24 – The Super Bowl point spread is holding at Patriots -5, but we saw the total move back up to 48.5 today. There are some early props on the board including odds on the game’s coin toss and national anthem (over/under 120 seconds). Tom Brady is set as the Super Bowl MVP favourite at -140, followed by Nick Foles at +340, Rob Gronkowski +1500, and Dion Lewis +1900.
Thursday, Jan. 25 – Odds are holding firm today, but we’re seeing slightly more action coming in on the favourites recently. Philadelphia supporters still make up about 65 percent of our point spread bets.
Friday, Jan 26 – No changes to the spread or total as of noon ET. We’re currently working on a full list of wild Super Bowl prop bets, which should be posted over the weekend. Stay tuned.
Monday, Jan. 29 – The Super Bowl LII spread has no dropped to Patriots -4.5 while the total remains at 48.5.
Tuesday, Jan. 30 – The point spread and total haven’t move since yesterday. About 63 percent of all point spread bets are backing the Eagles.
Wednesday, Jan 31 – We’re stuck on Pats -4.5 and an over/under of 48.5.
Thursday, Feb. 1 – Same story as yesterday. We’ll have an update on popular prop bets as the big game nears.
