The NBA schedule-makers got just what they wanted when they added the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns to the Christmas Day schedule. The Warriors and Suns square off Saturday afternoon in a battle between the teams with the two best records in the NBA. The Suns own a half-game edge over the Warriors on the strength of five straight victories, but the Warriors have won two straight and are coming off a rout of Phoenix earlier this month.

Phoenix is a 5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 218.0.

Warriors vs. Suns NBA Betting Odds

Phoenix gets the edge from the oddsmakers thanks largely to an impressive 15-2 straight up home record, though they’re just 9-8 against the spread at Footprint Center for the season. That mark will be put to the test this weekend against a Warriors team that has gone 20-10-2 ATS for the year and cruised to a 118-96 home victory over the Suns back on Dec. 3. The Warriors have also won 14 of the previous 20 head-to-head meetings with Phoenix.

The Warriors remain one of the best Under options in the NBA, having gone 9-21-2 O/U while posting 10 Unders over its last 15 games. Phoenix has surpassed the total in four of its last five games, but these teams have cashed the Under in 10 of their last 11 encounters.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors can’t be happy to have split their first two regular-season meetings with the Suns – or rather, they have to be wondering if they’d have a 2-0 edge with a better performance from their future Hall of Fame guard. Steph Curry is averaging just 17.5 points on 26.9 per cent shooting in those two games vs. the Suns this season, the first of which saw him shoot a horrid 4-of-21 en route to a 12-point dud in a 104-96 loss in Phoenix.

Phoenix Suns

The key to the Suns regaining the lead in the season series with Golden State: Winning the turnover battle in a big way. Phoenix was only a plus-one in turnovers last time out, and that – combined with a cold-shooting night from the field, was its undoing. It was a stark contrast to their meeting three days prior, when the Suns forced 23 turnovers while committing just 13 themselves to pull out an impressive 104-96 win.
