The Warriors romped to their most decisive victory of the season on Monday, blowing out the visiting San Antonio Spurs 132-95, but have yet to claim a victory in seven road contests so far this season. The Suns limp home after closing out a four-game Eastern road trip with consecutive defeats, capped by Monday’s narrow 113-112 loss in Miami.

Pegged as 2-point home favourites on the NBA odds, the Suns have since faded to slender 1-point chalk despite garnering 69 per cent of the betting action. The total has also been in steady decline since opening at 226.5, tumbling to 224.5 after briefly peaking at 227. However, the OVER has remained the choice of 88 per cent of sports bettors.

Wednesday night’s matchup at Footprint Center marks the second of four regular season meetings between these Western Conference rivals. The Suns rolled to an easy 134-105 victory when the Dubs came to town back on October 25, extending their current win streak in head-to-head action to two games. Overall, these clubs have split their past six clashes, with the road team emerging victorious on four occasions over that stretch.

Recent dates involving these teams have tended to be low scoring. The total has reached 220 just three times over their past 12 meetings, extending a steady 11-3 run for the OVER.

Golden State Warriors

After struggling to contain opposing shooters during their recent five-game straight up losing streak, the Warriors have shown signs of turning things around during their current 3-1 run. The club effectively slammed the door on San Antonio on Monday night, with the Spurs finding the mark on just 36 per cent of field goal attempts, and have now limited opposing shooters to just 38.9 per cent shooting over their three recent victories.

The Warriors have also helped their cause with both strong starts and finishes, averaging 32 points in the first quarter over their past four outings, and have earned two of their three recent wins on the strength of impressive fourth-quarter rallies. Steph Curry has maintained championship form while racking up 31.5 points per night, and should be well rested after seeing limited action in Monday’s rout of the Spurs. That contest provided an opportunity for Jordan Poole to see more time, and he took full advantage, draining a season-high 36 points.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns are hoping to get a lift from some home cooking when they hit the floor on Wednesday night. Like the Warriors, Phoenix has struggled on the road, earning just two wins in six away dates, and fallen to defeat by double-digit margins on three occasions. However, the Suns have remained a powerhouse on home hardwood, winning six of seven so far this season, and 15 of 19 overall since mid-March. The club’s recent woes have not been helped by the absence of Chris Paul. The veteran point guard has missed the past three games with a heel injury that leaves his status up in the air for Wednesday’s contest. Paul had already started to see his numbers slip before getting sidelined. The 37-year-old has tallied seven or fewer points in five of his 10 appearances to date. However, with 9.4 assists per game. Paul continued to play a key playmaking role prior to his injury.

Paul’s absence has opened the door for Cameron Payne to take on a bigger role, and he has responded by scoring at least 22 points in two of his past three outings. Devin Booker continues to lead the attack, with a team-high 26.5 points per game. Booker has also been hard hit by the team’s recent road swoon, but led the way with 34 points when the Warriors visited the desert last month.
