The stars will be out when the Golden State Warriors take on the Phoenix Suns in the Tuesday night TNT contest. The reigning champions hold on to a 2-1 record for the season behind the excellence of Steph Curry. Meanwhile, the Suns are also 2-1 despite undergoing some off-season drama regarding their starting centre DeAndre Ayton.

Which of these Western Conference teams will be able to pull out with a win?

Phoenix is a 1.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with a total of 227.0.

Warriors vs. Suns NBA Betting Odds

The Warriors are currently 5-1 ATS in their past six games when coming into the matchup off of an ATS loss. They are also 9-4 ATS in their past 13 games when going up against a team with a winning percentage over .600 on the season. When it comes to the total, the over has cashed in 13 out of their last 19 road games when going against a team with a winning home record.

On the other hand, the Suns have lost five out of their last six games against the spread when facing a team with a winning percentage over .600. They are 1-4 ATS in their past five overall as well. For the total, the under has cashed in seven out of their last eight overall and 13 of the last 16 meetings between the sides.

Golden State Warriors

There’s no question that Curry is the lifeblood of their offence. He’s currently averaging 33.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists on the year for the Warriors just four games into the new season. As was the case last year, though, the difference-maker is the depth. When players like Andrew Wiggins are pouring in 22.3 points and Jordan Poole is adding 14.3 a night, this team is very hard to beat. The team is even getting 11.0 points per outing from James Wiseman and he’s only averaging 17.7 minutes of action. That goes to show how much depth this team is playing with these days.

There was some preseason drama with Draymond Green but that’s quietly gone away. He’s been effective so far, scoring 8.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.7 steals per outing.

It’s early in the season but there aren’t many weaknesses on this squad right now.

Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns are a similar team in that they rely heavily on the scoring of Devin Booker in this offence but their team-wide success depends on what everyone else gives.

Booker is averaging 32.0 points per game for the Suns coming into this date with the Warriors. However, his teammates are not as reliable.

Ayton is the second-highest scorer on the roster with 19.0 points per game, though there are still questions as to his interest in playing for the Suns this year. After all, he went a significant period of time without speaking to the team’s head coach not long ago. It’s very early but he’s averaging 2.2 less rebounds per game and has lost 4.3 per cent off of his field goal percentage from a year ago.

Outside of that drama, the Suns are keeping a close eye on 37-year-old Chris Paul to see if he still has it. His scoring is way down so far as he’s only tallying 7.7 points per game. He scored 14.7 last season.

If guys like Ayton, Paul and even Mikal Bridges aren’t delivering, Booker won’t be able to do it on his own. That goes for tonight and long-term.
