The Trail Blazers hope to get a temporary break from their season from hell when they visit the injury-ravaged Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. Nick Nurse’s crew could be down as many as six rotation players with Fred VanVleet the latest to get bit by the injury bug.

NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Portland’s path to the playoffs could be tricky because of an awful first half of the campaign. The Blazers are 1.5 games out of the eighth seed in the Western Conference standings. They’ve lost six of their last seven games, and they have just one ATS cover in their last eight contests.

The Blazers are coming off an 11-point loss at Miami on Sunday as 5-point road underdogs. Defence seems to be the biggest issue for Terry Stotts’ group. Portland has given up 120 or more points in four of its last six games, and it even allowed 117 points in a loss to the Knicks on New Year’s Day.

The betting trends are encouraging for Portland supporters. The Blazers are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven road games and 0-6 ATS in their last six games against teams with winning records.

Toronto rebounded from an ugly loss to the Heat late last week when it beat Brooklyn by 19 points as a 1.5-point road underdog. The Raps haven’t played since that Saturday night in Brooklyn. The 121 points they tallied against the Nets snapped a four-game Under streak for the Dinos.

The Raps are 8-1 straight up in their last nine games against Portland – including earlier this season when they won on the West Coast as 3-point road dogs.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers wasted an outstanding performance from Damian Lillard in Miami. The All-Star point guard collected 34 points on 11-for-22 shooting and added 12 helpers for good measure. Lillard didn’t have his regular backcourt mate in that contest, but CJ McCollum is expected to return to the lineup in Toronto.

Toronto Raptors

The script flipped pretty quickly on Kyle Lowry. Early last month, Raptor fans were wondering if Lowry was the reason the team had lost its mojo. Toronto went 9-2 SU (8-3 ATS) while its starting point guard recovered from a banged up thumb. The club then lost four of five games once Lowry returned.

Now Toronto is winning games with Lowry as the lone star player left in the lineup. He tallied 26 points in the win over the Nets and he’s helped the Dinos to a respectable record with Pascal Siakam on the injured list.
