It has the makings of a potential trap game for the Raps on Thursday as they welcome Toronto native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder.

Thunder vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

This concludes the season series as Toronto tries to avoid the sweep because it was beaten 132-113 in Oklahoma City on Nov. 11. Orangeville native Eugene Omoruyi, who isn’t even with OKC any longer, had a career-high 22 points off the bench, while All-Star and Toronto native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 20. Eight Thunder players scored in double figures. They can score, but defence is a major problem. The Dinos were without Pascal Siakam with a right adductor strain. Chris Boucher led the Raptors with 20 points and 12 rebounds off the bench. No Toronto starter had more than 15 points.

The Thunder lead the all-time series 32-20 and are 15-10 as the road team. OKC is 6-1 ATS in its past seven in Toronto.

The next time the Raptors see this team, it could be absolutely loaded with the addition of Chet Holmgren, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft who has missed this season injured, and potentially another very high selection in this summer’s draft.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder are in a weird spot because management probably would like to tank the rest of the way to get back into the draft lottery, but OKC has played way above expectations and currently would reach the West play-in tournament. They enter off a third straight win, 121-107 over Brooklyn on Tuesday to get within a game of .500. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points, and Josh Giddey had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Those are two major building blocks; SGA is fifth in the NBA in scoring at 31.3 ppg, and the Aussie Giddey can put up a triple-double any night. The Thunder also have a very promising rookie in Jalen Williams, the No. 12 overall pick from Santa Clara. He had 23 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday and over the past two weeks is averaging 22.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.2 steals. Seriously, OKC is going to be a contender sooner rather than later. The Thunder are 6-1 ATS in their past seven.

Toronto Raptors

Why could this be a trap game? Toronto snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday with a hugely impressive 125-110 win over the Denver Nuggets, the Western Conference’s best team. It would be human nature to take the much lesser Thunder a bit lightly. Toronto took control from the start against the Nuggets with a franchise-record 49-point first quarter. The previous franchise record was 48 points — also in the first quarter — on Jan. 11, 1997 at New Jersey. Fred VanVleet had arguably his best game of the season with 36 points, including 8-for-12 from deep, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 38 minutes as the Dinos won their season-high fifth in a row at home. It was his 10th 30-point performance of the season, and Toronto is 21-7 all-time when he scores at least 30. OG Anunoby had 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting, and Jakob Poeltl 12 points and 11 rebounds. It was Poeltl’s 15th double-double of the season and fourth since being traded to Toronto – most on the team in that span.
