Raptors vs. Timberwolves NBA Betting Odds

Thursday is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams, with the Timberwolves visiting Toronto on March 18.

The Raptors won both meetings last season rather easily, including 103-91 in the Twin Cities. Gary Trent Jr. averaged 29.5 points in the two, OG Anunoby 16.0 points, and Pascal Siakam 14.5 points, 11.0 assists and 9.5 rebounds. Former No. 1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two but hasn’t played since Nov. 28 due to a right calf strain and isn’t close to a return. Another former No. 1 overall pick, Anthony Edwards, averaged 15.0 points and 5.5 rebounds vs. Toronto last season.

Toronto leads the all-time series 36-16 and is 13-12 in the Twin Cities, winning and covering the past four there.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto caught a break Tuesday in the second of a back-to-back as the Milwaukee Bucks again sat superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to due knee soreness. The Dinos took advantage in the first half but were outscored by 15 in the third quarter and lost 130-122. The Bucks shot 53.5 per cent and 19-for-39 from three-point range, where they outscored the Raptors by 18 points. Toronto also missed 10 of its 27 free throws and the Bucks just two of their 21. Fred VanVleet had 39 points (tying season high), Gary Trent Jr. 28 and Pascal Siakam 23, but OG Anunoby was just 2-for-13 for five points. Bit strange that Nick Nurse only played three reserves the night after a draining OT game in New York. The Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their past five playing on one day of rest.

Minnesota Timberwolves

There’s not much tougher for an NBA team than to play the second of a back-to-back when the front end was in the altitude of Denver. That was the case for Minnesota on Wednesday as it lost 122-118 to the Nuggets without All-Star big men Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. We touched on Towns above. Gobert was originally questionable for Wednesday and then downgraded to out. The three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year is questionable tonight. Reserve guard Austin Rivers is in the same boat. Leading scorer Anthony Edwards has been listed questionable for a handful of games but has been playing. He was held to 16 on Wednesday, though. We will pick as if Gobert at a minimum is out. If Edwards sits, too, the Dinos should absolutely win.
