Raptors vs. Spurs NBA Betting Odds

San Antonio kickstarted a full-blown rebuild/tank by trading All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to Atlanta this offseason for a bunch of draft picks, but Coach Gregg Popovich’s remaining players apparently didn’t get the memo with the team a surprising 5-2 when it was expected to be one of the worst in the Western Conference.

Wednesday is the first of two meetings between the clubs with the Spurs heading to Toronto on Feb. 8. The Raptors swept last year and have won the past three in the series. Fred VanVleet averaged 29.5 points in the 2021-22 series, Pascal Siakam 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, and Gary Trent Jr. 19.0 points.

Murray scored 25 points with 12 assists and nine rebounds in the one game he played, while Keldon Johnson averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds, and former Raptor Jakob Poeltl 15.0 points and 12.0 rebounds. I expect him to be traded at some point this year.

Toronto is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings.

Toronto Raptors

The Dinos come off a 139-109 home rout of Atlanta on Halloween. Pascal Siakam had 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. It was his franchise-best 30th career game with 20 or more points, 10 or more rebounds and five or more assists. Scottie Barnes scored a season-high 21 points and made a career-high five three-pointers, and Gary Trent Jr. also had 21. Barnes has now scored in double figures in each of his first six games played, joining Damon Stoudamire (1996-97) and Vince Carter (1999-00) as the only sophomores in franchise history to do so. The Hawks had a season-worst 18 turnovers, leading to 24 points for Toronto. Guard Fred VanVleet didn’t play with a sore back and is questionable tonight. So is Otto Porter Jr. (personal), who has yet to debut with Toronto. The Raptors are 7-1 ATS in their past eight Wednesday games.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs were 107-98 home winners over Minnesota on Sunday. Keldon Johnson scored 25 points, and Doug McDermott added 23 while tying a career high with seven made three-pointers. San Antonio was without starters Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell and key reserve Josh Richardson due to injury/illness. Rookie guard Blake Wesley exited the game in the first half with a left knee injury. Richardson will play tonight, but Vassell and Wesley apparently won’t. Sochan is in question as is Keldon Johnson. Last week, the team dismissed former first-round pick Joshua Primo from the team for allegedly exposing himself to several women. The Spurs are 6-1 ATS in their past seven at home.
