Raptors vs. Spurs NBA Betting Odds

Wednesday wraps up the season series as Toronto beat visiting San Antonio 129-104 on Jan. 4. Fred VanVleet had 33 points to lead seven Dinos in double figures. Pascal Siakam added 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Toronto had a whopping 30 assists. Former Raptors center Jakob Poeltl scored 19 points, and Devin Vassell and rookie Josh Primo each had 15 for the Spurs.

Toronto still trails the all-time series 35-16 and is just 5-20 all-time in San Antonio. The Dinos are 3-7 against the spread in the past 10 meetings.

The Spurs traded away one of their promising players in guard Derrick White at the Trade Deadline to Boston in a bit of a puzzling move – although the team is pretty deep in the backcourt. History will be made with a San Antonio win Wednesday as Gregg Popovich is tied with Don Nelson for the most coaching victories in league history at 1,335.

Toronto Raptors

Really no surprise the Raptors lost a third straight game Sunday, 104-96 in Cleveland, as they were without Fred VanVleet, his backup Malachi Flynn and OG Anunoby – Anunoby will not play this week and neither will Flynn, but VanVleet has a chance to go Wednesday. The Raptors are 5-7 without VanVleet this season. Rookie Scottie Barnes got the start at the point and was terrific with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. He’s starting to close the gap on Cleveland’s Evan Mobley for NBA Rookie of the Year. Chris Boucher got a rare start Sunday — Nick Nurse went with a big lineup by also starting Khem Birch – and responded with 21 points and seven rebounds.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio still has an outside shot at earning a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament. The Spurs were without guards Devin Vassell and Lonnie Walker on Monday but caught a massive break vs. the Lakers as LeBron James was a surprise scratch, and they beat Los Angeles 117-110 to snap a four-game skid. All-Star Dejounte Murray is second in the NBA in triple-doubles and just missed his 13th with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Ex-Raptor Jakob Poeltl had 18 points and eight rebounds. Both Vassell and Walker might play in this one as they aren’t seriously hurt/ill. San Antonio has Canadian Josh Primo on the roster, a rookie out of Alabama. The Toronto native was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and averages 5.0 points in about 16 minutes per game.
