The Toronto Raptors finish their “baseball-type” series in Orlando on Sunday looking to avoid the two-game sweep at the hands of the Magic. Toronto is -6.5 on the NBA odds.

Raptors vs. Magic NBA Betting Odds

Sunday is the third of four regular-season meetings between the teams. Orlando visits Toronto on Feb. 14.

The Raptors have had two of these types of “baseball series” this year. On Oct. 22, they lost 112-109 in Miami and then two days later won 98-90 there. On Oct. 26, the Raptors beat the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 119-109 but lost at Scotiabank Arena two days later 112-90. Always tough to sweep these things.

Orlando has played two of these series so far: It lost both at Indiana on Nov. 19 & 21 and then lost both at home to Philadelphia on Nov. 25 & 27. The NBA rejiggering the schedule during COVID is what brought about these series, and the league and players both liked cutting down on travel.

Toronto is 11-3 against the spread in the past 14 meetings.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors were around -8.5 for Friday’s game in Orlando and upset 113-109. Pascal Siakam was brilliant in the loss with 36 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. After scoring 18 points in his first game back from a strained groin, Siakam has scored 23 or more in six straight appearances. Toronto was outscored by 17 points in the 10 minutes while Siakam rested Friday. Gary Trent Jr. played 35 minutes off the bench and had 20 points. Fred VanVleet had a forgettable game in shooting 5-for-14 with a few key mistakes, including a missed late free throw. Scottie Barnes looked out of it with just six points and a team-worst minus-24 rating in 32 minutes. The Raptors are 1-7 ATS in their past eight road games.

Orlando Magic

Rookie of the Year favourite Paolo Banchero had 23 points, six rebounds and four assists in Friday’s upset. The No. 1 overall pick has scored at least 20 in six of his past seven. Franz Wagner had the game of his young NBA career in shooting 12-of-15 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line for a career-high 34 points. Wagner scored 14 points in a span of 3:33, helping Orlando build a 14-point lead in the first half. Mo Bamba grabbed 13 rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench to help the Magic to a 43-33 advantage on the boards. As a team, they shot 59.2 per cent from the field, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Orlando had lost 11 of the past 12 in the series. It is 4-1-1 ATS in its past six after a win.
