Off a crushing loss in Philadelphia, the Toronto Raptors visit the New York Knicks on Wednesday with red-hot New York in the second of a back-to-back. New York is a short favourite on the NBA odds.

Raptors vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds

These teams will see each other a lot over the next month as it’s the first of four regular-season meetings, and they will complete the series on Jan. 22 in Toronto.

The Raptors won three of four last season. Fred VanVleet (three games) averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 assists and 6.7 rebounds, OG Anunoby (three games) 19.3 points and 6.0 rebounds, Gary Trent Jr. 18.0 points, and Pascal Siakam (two games) 16.5 points and 13.0 rebounds.

Canadian RJ Barrett averaged 21.7 and 5.3 rebounds for the Knicks in the series, Obi Toppin 21.5 points and 7.3 rebounds, and Julius Randle 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.

Toronto leads the all-time series 58-44 but is 24-28 at Madison Square Garden (split last year there). The Raptors at 1-4 against the spread in their past five at MSG.

Toronto Raptors

While the Dinos played without Gary Trent Jr. again on Monday in Philadelphia (he’s questionable tonight), in a minor surprise they got back OG Anunoby a bit earlier than expected and were in position to upset the Sixers with a 14-point lead in the third quarter but lost a sixth in a row, 104-101 in overtime. Tobias Harris put the Sixers ahead to stay on a three-pointer with 2:12 left in OT. Pascal Siakam sent the game to OT on a layup with five seconds left and finished with 38 points (most allowed by Philly to any player this year), 15 rebounds and six assists.

Anunoby had 13 points in his return but no other starter had more than nine as Fred VanVleet was an ugly 3-for-15 from the field. Chris Boucher was good off the bench with 13 points and 10 rebounds. All four reserves who played had a positive plus/minus rating. The Raptors are 2-8 ATS in their past 10 on the road.

New York Knicks

Second of a back-to-back for New York after smashing visiting Golden State 132-94 on Tuesday for an eighth straight victory, the longest active streak in the NBA. The Knicks also have covered all eight, tied for the longest current ATS streak with Orlando. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau has been known throughout his career for defence and New York has the No. 1 defence in the league over this stretch – only three tams have reached triple digits.

Both Julius Randle and Toronto native RJ Barrett have been great as well in the run. Randle had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on Tuesday, and Barrett 18 points and five assists as no Knicks starter had to play heavy minutes. Other than Obi Toppin, the Knicks are healthy.
